This is my favorite submission in this Jam! I had a blast playing this and beat all 10 levels. At first, I thought level 6+ was suddenly getting really difficult... until I found out that I can use cards and place tanks directly onto the battlefield! What a life-changing discovery that was! :D Anyway, fantastic job on this game, and looking forward to future updates!

I think this has some potential to it. I felt like the placement of the different structures could be better: right now I accidentally end up placing the wrong structure because the previous one I placed gets stuck on. Also, the game would really benefit from some juice to it. Maybe some proper assets too. Have you looked at this Kenney asset pack: https://kenney.nl/assets/tiny-battle ?

Gave it 5's for every category because it's super deep in gameplay and had the right genius-mix of minimal and being on-the-stick and pragmatic yet having huge sub-ramifications.

Two suggestions

1) right-click held + drag mouse = give this the same scrolling of the play field as your arrow keys

2) an iron man Nomadic Mode where the crystals you have spawned, once theyre gone theyre gone so you have to scrap your factories and move your entire economic base around to keep effectively mining

(and maybe Don't let your pyramid be scrappable and movable along with the factories or harvesters, in this proposed Iron Man version i'm talking about, but have your economy require longer and longer supply-distance like some nightmare similar to the Red Ball Express following D-Day in World War II lol.

Anyway that's a sign of the best games i rate, if i get catty and inspired to give counter-suggestions.

Gave you an itch follow, consider doing the same if you like the thing(s) on my other page(s).

Cheers!

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment :)
Feedback, positive or negative, is always welcome to keep improving.

1) You can drag by pressing middle mouse. I tried to enable right mouse button as well, but it is already used for deselection. The game has to decide if the player wants to drag or to deselect, by a little timeout, e.g. Solving it seemed to mess up the controls and caused a stuttering game flow.

2) Good idea. In fact the player gathers more money than he can spend. The game needs rebalancing and different modes.

Really fun game! This is my type of game and I enjoyed it very much.

The tutorial is really well-done, and is something that is often forgotten. It got me to understand and enjoy a genre I am usually not that into. Really fun to play!

Great game! I really enjoyed playing it. I’ve reached Level 4 so far 😄

I really like the graphics, gameplay, and all the ideas behind the game. I’ll definitely come back to play more, and I’m looking forward to future updates.

As for the game jam, I’ve tried around 20 games so far, and this one is clearly my favorite!

When in the game itself the mouse movement speed is quite slow. Going into the pause menu fixes this issue but when I go back into the game it appears again. Is there a setting or something to adjust this? Been enjoying the tutorial so far but it's very painful to get to places.

Hi netravelr,

never had this isssue. The mouse speed in the menu is the same as in your OS.
The ingame mouse speed may by using raw mouse data, because of the mouse capturing.
A fast workaround may be to set your dpi or mouse speed higher in your OS.

Do you use a special kind of mouse?
What OS, browser are you using?
What mouse are you using and what settings?

Will add a mouse speed option today.

Normal mouse, using Mac OS on Safari. It's strange because the title screen and pause screens all work correctly, it's just the main gameplay that is very, very slow.

Developer

Improved it. Does it work now?

It works now! Thanks for looking into it, the gameplay is much funner now. If you have time to revisit I think it would be cool to add a little particle effect or something when the items randomly spawn into the world, right now it's very jarring to see something just appear. Alternatively, only spawn the new items out of the player's view. I think it'd also be nice to have tooltips explain what the items we are building are rather than just the name of the item. That being said, I had a lot of fun playing the game so great work!

Had a lot of fun playing this, after level 5 though it seems next to imposable lol. Has a lot going on in it, which I liked but also made it hard to know what I was even dong right or wrong, a bit slower gameplay at first might be nice, I think If you were to cut some stuff out and focuses on the core game gameplay and getting the tank AI down, and a difficulty option this could make are really great halo wars style rts, imo! Great game!

Developer

Thanks for your review :)

It is possible to beat the game by a good strategy.
Or by grinding enough gold in the previous levels to buy many boosters to support your army.

What should I cut out? The clicker part? And focus more on base building like a typical RTS?

(+1)

Np! And I would say choose one or the other and focuses more around that, I like the clicker aspect to it but it feels like its trying to do both too much , if it were to lean a bit more one way or the other it would be a bit easier to manage everything  I think. As it is now its defiantly more of a clicker but the balance of the game currently is set up for a bullet hell rts. I really think if you simplified it down a bit and balanced it,  this really would make a great unique clicker rts!
