Having known the music producer, I knew the game was going to sound great. The music and SFX fit the vibe of an 80s synthwave spinner game as well as they could've. That's not even mentioning how pretty the map design and VFX are.

The gameplay is well polished and interesting - I'm impressed you were able to implement two separate game modes in the time we had (though to be fair they aren't too distinct from one-another). My only problem is that the survival mode's match length feels a little short for how small the map is. I looped the map a good few times before the portal finally appeared, and beyblades spinners seemed to get a little lost in some parts of the map.

Still an overall joy to play and a game I see with potential for more after the jam ends!

Thank you for your feedback! Super glad you enjoyed our game :D

Great game a lot of gameplay depth! I played for a straight hour and didnt even notice!

I enjoyed this one a lot. I think it has a ton of potential to go big with the right changes.

What you did well:

Game feels satisfying when you knock an enemy into orbit

Sound effects and music are great

Visually looks appealing

The dash feels great!

The game fits the theme of the jam very well

Suggestions:

The boost mechanic feels a bit underwhelming. Maybe I didnt use it correctly but I didn't get much benefit out of boosting.

Converting momentum feels difficult, I feel like I have to rely on the dash too much in order to be able to control myself.

The powerups could have more impact, mainly I think some of them should be multi-use, maybe 2-3 charges before being used up.

I think this game could take a lot of inspiration from ULTRAKILL's movement system. Things like ground pounding, dash jumping, and sliding could all make the game feel a lot more fluid and satisfying.

Keep up the good work! I think you guys can do a lot with this game.

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed our game, especially the sound. I had loads of fun on that end :D

Dude this game is so satisfying! Dashing into enemies and watching them get sent at light speed to the stratosphere was so sick. And the feel of momentum is pretty good too. And the visuals and music are soo good too, I remember hearing the one song with the "summer madness synth" when you shared it in the discord, so cool hearing it over a game this good! I do think it would be cool to have some levels to progress through, for me I really like having a clear sense of progression in games, but just battling endless enemies is cool too (I'm not really good enough at the movement for the coin mode lol). Great job peeps!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!! Super glad you enjoyed playing and enjoyed the music. We're hopefully going to get some updates in the future with more quality-of-life.

Super polished, feels really professional! Amazing!

Developer

Thanks!!!

Really great visuals and music! It was really fun using the boost to get serious air time! Just wish we had a bit more control over the handling.

Developer

Thanks! I enjoyed making the soundscape for the game quite a lot :D my teammate's cooked hard on the rest

Enjoyed this one!  Was simple but very effective, I only wish the boost lasted a little longer.  Nice job!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Super fun! Movement felt amazing and dashing with scroll wheel is such a smart idea that I've never seen before! Honestly just a fun and cool game, i just wish there was more to do lol. (took me a bit to get used to the controls but i got it eventually) great work!

Developer

Thank you!!! Having a dash on the scroll wheel both adds to the theme and makes it convenient for you to have inputs on your mouse. I'm really glad you enjoyed the game.

Music is great, visuals are great. A little more variety in content, especially in survival mode would be appreciated, but it is fun overall, and has impeccable vibes.

Developer

Hoping to have more variety in future updates! If we had 2 weeks for this jam, we'd have gotten some more stuff for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for your thoughts on the music as well. I had so much fun working on the sound.

Glad you enjoyed playing :D

Quite fun, the controller is a bit hard to get used to, but the graphics are beautiful!

Developer(+1)

I can understand that for sure. The controls are a little strange at first, and we will probably add keybind inputs for that in the future if we continue working on this game!

I don't think this game could look any better! 😲

Controlling the spinner is fun and responsive. Although I wasn't 100% sure what the dash direction is based on. It didn't seem to always behave like I expected.

The actual gameplay though felt a bit empty?
The survival mode felt like it was best to passively avoid everyone. I didn't feel like it really challenged me and then you get hit by someone you don't see and lose without any feedback.
Well I mostly lost by doing whatever parkour by myself. This was also the most fun I had.
The survival time felt too long. I wish it was a shorter time but higher difficulty.

The coin mode didn't seem focused enough for my taste. Levels seemed to open to figure out the best path.

I'd love to have like a speedrunning parkour course with these controls or a more focused battle mode with faster win and lose states. The current modes felt boring.

It may be that I had way too high expectations based on the screenshots and gifs which promise fast paced action.
I still had a lot of fun moving around and trying to do cool stuff like I was playing a skating game.

Music/Audio is easy 5 stars!
But I do wish there was some actual synthwave tracks too because of the visuals.

It's a very beautiful game with some flaws.
I just feel like it could be so much more fun if it focused on some faster paced gameplay!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your kind words and detailed feedback! Since we only had a week, we were mostly just focused on core mechanics and some of the gameplay. We're planning on having multiplayer modes, different maps and game modes, reworking enemy AI, and polishing the gameplay loop to make it more fast-paced and action-packed (in the case that development continues and we perform well for the jam).

Also, I'm with you; parkour would be CRAZY fun. I brought that up to my team about that one too.

Lastly, thank you so much (in regards to the audio)!! I had a BLAST making the OST and sounds. I was told to go for something Ultrakill-like and wanted to combine that with light jazz fusion inspo/synths. I'm definitely going to make more music and focus on pure synthwave for.

Hoping to polish this more in the future and create some fun action for players. Happy jamming!

Submitted(+1)

yeah I'll be following to see if you will continue the project!
Will definitely give it another shot post jam if it gets more fast paced!

This is such a cool game and concept!! I grew up with beyblades and definitely took me back. I loved the art direction and the audio fit perfectly with the game.  I know it its a prototype but are you thinking on maybe adding more enemies and items? I think it can get repetitive after a bit but it is incredibly fun regardless! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yes! We're hoping to add more variety in enemies, game modes, and items in the future, if this game performs well.

Developer

Also thank you! I had a very fun time working on the audio

Developer

Thanks Miss.nibiru :) great to get an "i diggit" from you!

Oh man, what a beautiful aesthetic! I ran to play as soon as I saw the screenshots.

It's a really fun game! I just wish there was more variety. The most fun part of the game is when opponents start pushing each other and everything descends into chaos. I wouldn't be afraid to add more opponents and add some more interesting behaviors (exploding if hit by something, going into a rage state, etc.).

And the items—almost all of them are either useless, in my opinion, or you forget about them. :) The game would benefit from super bonuses that you have to collect quickly and they're applied immediately.

Good job! I always appreciate developers who can put together something high-quality from a small number of elements.

Whoosh-whoosh, bam! Cool!

Developer(+1)

Thank you chessNock :) much appreciated! We would have loved to add more items etc. aswell, i was a big fan of spikes and lava, but we only had the week :) we'll tag you when we get some dlc going ;)

Submitted(+1)

Definitely an incredible entry into the jam. I loved the art, audio, and items. It felt great to launch enemies at insane speeds, and have myself fly at insane speeds.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for your kind words!

Developer(+1)

Super glad you enjoyed the audio!

really cool! controls felt nice, just the right amount of inertia and the dash especially felt really satisfying. vibe/atmosphere/sound/vis are great (nice one fellow ue devs!).

Submitted(+1)

I saw beyblades and went "oh not again" but this is so much better controls than other beyblade games I've seen this game jam. And the synth inspired art really made it look nice. Definitely spent too much time on the one level trying to get up top (and failing because enemies). I did a lot better in the Mosh Pit level.

Developer

Thank you Ganktronics :)

The art is so cool, takes me back to when i had stuff like this as my pc background and i felt so cool for it, the music is not the best synthwave / vaporwave ever but it's still pretty damn good. as for the gameplay, i feel like neither game mode is really suited for this kind of game, survival is fun but it incentivizes passive play, as the only thing you get for being aggressive is a higher score after the game, on the other hand the coin mode would be better if the controls and movement weren't designed with battling so much in mind. I think this game would benefit from a game mode more centered around what makes it fun, colliding with the other gyros, for example a battle mode where it ends when you are the last one standing would be better than what the game has right now, in my oppinion.

Also i want to mention in regards to the theme, while it fits well, you aren't really "spinning", what i mean by this is that the fact that you are spinning doesn't change or add up to the main core gameplay, for example, think if you replaced the gyros with cars (with really bad turning) would the game still make sense without the spinning of the character? in my opinion yes, so you could aim to add something similar to the main inspiration from this game and add some sort of spin management.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the feedback! In regards to spin to win., the game features a poise system, where if you knock into walls or faster spinners you will spin slower and in turn take more knockback. So the player is supposed to prioritize good hits to keep spinning as fast as possible and avoid taking extra knockback.

Submitted

Oh that makes a lot of sense and was basically what i was suggesting, which means it should probably be made more clear to the player!

Submitted(+2)

I'll definitely be keeping this one downloaded after the jam. I loved the art direction, loved bonking other beyblades, and loved the soundtrack sooo much!!! This game would be unbelievably cool as a multiplayer

Developer

Thank you! its our plan to add full multiplayer support in the event that we go for a full release

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game, and the music and sound effects are great. slamming into other Bayblades at top speed and watching them go flying is very satisfying

Developer

thank you!! I had sm fun doing sound design
