This brings back memories , Years ago my first games was made in scratch .
Good luck in your game dev journey (*^_^*)
Oh hey! It's this game! I remember playtesting this game before submissions opened and thought it was really cool! Also, the fact that it was made in scratch makes it so much cooler. It is a really cool take on the idea, and I had fun playing it! Great job!
GJ on using scratch!!
Cool game, I like the idea of rotating the screen!
Yo love that you used scratch. I'm a little confused on game intent though. Do i need to collect the objects? I just sort of rotated the map and went to the next level. Thanks for making this game though and keep making them :)
you do not need to collect them, they are just there.
First: OMG Scratch!!!!
Art: I liked that, even if it was a character from scratch, the walking, sliding, etc. were animated. There even were the little flowers, which made it seem very cute! However, I don't think the colors of the game fit very well together. I think there maybe were too many different flashy colors? Maybe you could have used a palette from lospec to help with that! (that's one of the few tips I know)
Levels and gameplay: I never understood what the potions did and why I had to gather them! Nonetheless, I liked that every level had its own difficulty. I didn't finish the game, but I checked in the source code, and all the levels seemed to include a different challenge which is really great! Now, I may not be the most skilled player, but I gave up at the level with the second checkpoint because it felt unreachable :( There were too many ennemies together and even if I did escape them, the checkpoint was in a place too well guarded, and they were too many together for me to kill without dying. Maybe the checkpoint could have been in a different place, less ennemies (particularly the closest one, that we cannot see immediatly when entering the level) or not instantly going back when we loose one life (but that changes a lot about the game!). I had a bit lag when trying to rotate the purple level with the two monsters for the first time, but I don't know what happened! I liked the fact that we could regain lives, it felt rewarding for reaching a turing point!
That's a long text, but I hope it helps, congrats on your plateformer and feel free to ask for precisions or more!
Thx, I should have used a color palette, you're right.
You’re making a game in Scratch, too? Me too! I thought the idea of being able to rotate the map itself was really clever. I can also tell you put a lot of effort into making it mobile-friendly. Let’s both keep up the good work!
thx, I had extra time, so I spent all of it adding mobile controls.
Very fun platformer, fun use of the theme. Great work especially for being a solo dev!! Killed it, nice work :)
THX, I was on the stream, YES!
This was a fun little platformer, and it’s honestly impressive that it was made in Scratch. The rotating level mechanic was a cool use of the jam theme, and there were some fun moments where the level design worked well with the spinning.
My main feedback is that the game could use more polish, especially with the sound effects, respawning, and hitboxes. Some of the SFX got a bit loud/repetitive, and respawning into hazards could feel frustrating. I also think the levels could expand on the rotation mechanic more, since that was the most interesting part of the game. Overall though, good job, especially for a Scratch entry!
I had no idea you can use Stratch to do stuff like this. Great job!
thx, I liked your execution of the idea too!
Wow, I didn't even know you could put a Scratch game on Itch haha. Good job!
You did a really good job making this on Scratch!
I don't really think it was a good idea to choose Scratch for the jam unless that's the only engine you know how to use. I've used Scratch for some time, and everything is so hard to make in comparison with any other engine. Things like adding graphic assets, etc., turn into a nightmare. You did a good job, but the graphics still look like developer placeholders, and the gameplay could surely be better. The sound effects are loud and get annoying very fast. Study some game design and try another engine! I really recommend GameMaker Studio 2. It's free and it's easy to learn.
That's a pretty good start, especially for a Scratch game.
I know how to use godot, but I felt like I should use scratch
It's kind of insane that this is on scratch! I would definitely do a lot more with sound effects and music, but there wasn't much time, and also I'm a bit of a stickler with that kind of stuff. So I don't really blame you. Otherwise, this game is a pretty alright, simple platformer! Again, pretty impressive that it's on scratch!
It could use some story. Good job tho.
Cool that it's in scratch but the actual gameplay just isn't good, the sound effects get SO grating after just a small amount of time, and the art I'm just not a fan of, looks a LOT like just developer art with nothing else.
nice and unique concept of making a scratch game i understand the limitations of scratch and according to the limitations the game is pretty good i loved your creativity to make this in scratch somehow, for a scratch game its really impressive
Nice game,I am not a fun of the art but I like the concept!
Not bad! I havent seen a scratch game yet, so thats pretty cool.
Rotating the level was cool and it was a really good game for Scratch!
the level rotating was cool, especially for a game made in scratch
