Hey it's you! I hope you remember me from the Juniper Jam! I made Project Helix! I don't have the link to my game yet, but I will update this comment when I do. My game will be called Systems Offline. Can't wait to see the stream again!

I noticed that your game description mentions music and musical scales but there are none. I would have loved to see the full game. It also seems to have some balancing issues such as being able to spam space and kind of ignore the next damage of your projectiles. Maybe this is different when there is music but right now there is no punishment for spamming and ignoring the next damage number.
Yeah, everyone interprets the "spirit" of the jam differently and challenging yourself is definitely spirit of every jam! The rules are a bit vague about what you can and can't do besides the assets. I guess my interpretation of the make your own judgement rule was that using in-engine drawing wasn't allowed but nowhere does it say specifically it's not. Sorry about the mix up, I'm not trying to blame you or your game in any way. If anything, the rules should be blamed for not being totally clear / answering all of our questions lol. You should be proud of the procedural animation! Hope you have good luck with placement!
I love the look of this game! It feels really well polished and it's kind of crazy it's made of kenny and kaykit assets. I did have a few issues with the game though.
The first issue is that the movement was a bit annoying since it is based on facing direction.
The other issue is when I pause the game some of the spiders start spinning with their legs in place. Not too big of an issue just thought you should know if you want to fix it after the jam.
Finally, I don't think using in-engine draw functions is allowed in this jam. I remember reading a thread at the start of the jam about a question of whether you could use code to draw and I think kenny said it went against the spirit of the jam to only use the premade assets.
This is a really good-looking game, great job!
I would love some feedback on my game if you are able to play it: Gulp!
This is my second jam, but I am still very new to making games. My first jam was the Serious Juniper Jam that was not too long ago. This is my first time working in 3d and it was not as bad as I thought it would be lol. These assets definitely helped though.
Thanks a lot!
Hello! I tried looking around for this answer before posting but couldn't find anything. I just want to make sure I’m following the rules correctly. I know custom art isn’t allowed in the game itself, but am I allowed to use custom artwork on my itch.io page (such as a banner, background, or embed background)? Or does all visual content — including itch page art — need to be made only from Kenney/KayKit assets?
Thank you so much for clarifying! I am excited to start making a game!
Focusing on gameplay is definitely a great priority to have! You should be really proud of it; you did a great job! It was such an honor to compete against all these creative and talented people. The artwork is great by the way! Hope we get to compete again in future jams - I would love to see what you make next.
Oh hey it's you! I was hoping to see you again because I wanted to say one final Great Job! And thank you so much for everything! This jam was so amazing I definitely want to do more. (I'm just hoping other communities are as kind as this one). Either way I knew going into this jam that I would have a personal win since I made my first game. I'm really shocked to see you did not place higher. Your game actually felt so polished and fun to play. Thank you so much again and I hope to have the privilege to compete against you in the future!
I was really surprised by my score. With all the positive comments I had really high hopes for placing higher, but I am still really happy with my score. I guess with it being my first game jam I had no idea what to expect and I was guessing that the more ratings you have the better. I am kind of surprised to see games with 16-30 reviews on the top ranked games. Amazing job to everyone though!
It's a cool game but the tutorial was a bit hard to understand. There was a lot of information at once that was hard for me to remember. It's also a bit hard to read the text since it keeps jumping between lines when new text appears. I did really like the spinning mechanic and all the upgrades. I really liked this game! Good job!
I would love if you could rate my game: Project Helix. I'm 3 ratings away from reaching my goal and it would really help a lot! Thank you so much! Good luck with placement when ratings close!
Let's do it! I'm really trying to hit 70 ratings and I'm at 67 right now. Every rating helps a lot! Here is my game: Project Helix. I will check out your game right now! Good luck with your placement!
I really liked this game! I was originally going to do something with pinball but couldn't figure out how to fit the theme in a way I liked. It's cool how you did it! I really like the voice acting too! The only issue I had was that the ball was sometimes a bit hard to see. This was a fun game though! Great job!
If you still have time I would love if you could play and rate my game: Project Helix. I'm 4 reviews away from reaching my goal of 70 ratings! Thanks so much!
Congratulations on reaching 40 ratings! I would love if you could play and rate my game: Project Helix. I'm trying to get to 70 and I need 4 more ratings! Thank you!
Woah the art looks so good!! The music is amazing and I feel like the game is super well-polished. The only thing is I'm not really sure how the shop works. I buy a slot then it looks like it gets put on in game once I spin something? I also don't think my coins go down visually when I buy something because they stay stuck at whatever the value was when I enter the shop. I really liked this game though! Great job!
I will definitely check out your game right now! Good luck on getting to 60! I'm 4 away from getting 70. I would love if you could play and rate my game! Project Helix. Thank you so much!
