Its a solid game I had fun with it! I agree with the other commenters that the random spinning was a bit of a stumbling block for me but other than that this is a neat idea

The idea is cool.

What broke my experience a little bit, was that the spin of the level always was completely random.

The problem here imo is, that the player isn't able to plan his moves and sometimes just dies because of the way the level rotates. And if u as player has nothing to do about it, or react, it can feel a bit unfair.

Maybe that is something to work on.

There could be a pattern with different rotations but i think it should be something u can plan with.

But overall a cool idea and got result :)

The core concept of the game has a lot of potential! I have some feedback for you if you are going to continue working on this game.

What you did well:

  • Again, the core concept is very cool. There is a good chunk of platformers that allow you to flip the player gravity, but not the entire room's gravity.
  • Very simple, easy to grasp the controls and objective!
  • Having the game force a spin after you grab a coin adds a bit more spice to it!

Suggestions:

I will throw a lot of suggestions at you since I think there is a ton of ways this game can be expanded!

  • Giving the player some way to control the direction the level spins would be very good, as the player can just control where they land either way by spamming the button.
  • Have checkpoints between levels, or at least at the 2nd level.
  • For a more long-term build, you could use this flipping mechanic to do things like making boxes that block a path go out of the way, or even moving around liquid!
  • Additionally, environmental hazards could be pretty cool, and they could also harm enemies too, allowing you to deal with enemies in really annoying spots.
  • More specific objectives? Like maybe for one level you have to get the coins in a specific way, or for another level you have to actually kill an enemy or two.

I like the idea, I think it could make for some really cool levels, but there needs to be level of control over what direction you spin. As it is, I'd just spam the spin button until I land on the direction I want. I wasn't the biggest fan of restarting at the very beginning. Especially with the randomness of the spins, it made it pretty frustrating. I think with some more work this could be a really great game but it just needs some more time than a jam allows.

Very nice concept! I would prefer spinning to be predictable because it would actually allow for some strategy (“where will enemies and I end up after I spin”?) but I guess it would make the game too serious =) I appreciate the ability to jump to any level.

What a delightful little game! Pretty satisfying and cool to wrap your head around platforming in 2 dimensions like that instead of just 1. My only gripe is it was difficult for me to intuitively know which direction i was going to spin. I’d have liked maybe manually being able to control the direction with arrow keys or something. Also the full 360 spin instead of a 90 degree one sometimes confused me a little. But just a polish nitpick! Very solid overall, congrats on your submission <3

I enjoyed the concept of getting a coin and spining automatically. Definitely this adds a bit of reflexes to avoid enemies when they are falling after spinning. Music is very catchy and graphics are very cozy. Great work!

Fun idea with some fun applications. The random spinning is fun sometimes, but sometimes it just completely screws you over which isn't fun. It's also annoying that whenever you die you have to start over from the beginning.

Fun game, the random angle changes keep you on your toes.
