Great game. I want more of it, it could be a new genre if well rounded with more reels
This is a lot of fun, and a fantastic idea :)
Really nice mechanics! I can see how this can be expanded upon to make something really cool and it already is quite interesting i just think its unfortunately lacking the sauce (dynamic visuals and sound effects) as it is right now it feels flat as a whole but this is an unpolished gem that can be something special if you had more time to work on it
Cool game, really polished visuals. I don't fully understand how its doing a "spin to win" theme though. I also wish I could move my reels on my grid before my turn ends, misplaced them a few times and it seemed like they were just stuck.
Thanks for playing. The reels are slot machine reels that spin and change in value. We opted for a simpler animation to save time. There are a few bugs with reel placement due to time issues. But you can drag them to the hand and place them again.
Wow this is solid! This is a prototype of a game that could be quite something, amazingly creative!
I think it lacked a bit information on how it worked so it was difficult to understand a few things first, but it still was perfectly fine to play it and figure it out as you went along. And it wasn't at all difficult to spend some time on it!
If anything, the rounds were just a bit to long, but I think that was mostly for now - because I want to finish all five rounds but I'm also trying to get a feel of as many jam games as I can but I will probably get back to this soon. :D
Very nice work!
I liked it a lot. The visuals are amazing, and very fitting. The audio and soudtrack were right on the spot as well. The gameplay loop was very fun. Some hints and information in game could help a little bit, to be more clear how the attack, defense works and how it will be calculated, but the gameplay loop is solid. Really great work!
Very fun concept, took me a bit to understand how it worked, but even without knowing what was happening, it was very satisfying to build up combos. Good implementation of VFX + SFX to reward the player when they perform a good combo. I appreciated the inclusion of powerups for when I had a horrible deck.
I struggled to see the spin to win aspect before I read the comments! But other than it was quite addicting, made it all the way to the end, good job!
Thanks for playing. We actually even had the idea to rotate the reels to create arbitrary tetris shapes and a bunch of other things for the theme. But we cut down on scope In hindsight it might've been better to spend some time to get the reel spinning animation working.
Super cool game! Bit of a learning curve, and I found it quite easy, but there's lots of great ideas in here!
Such a cool concept for a game! I'd love to see this expanded out more
Take this idea and keep going with it, really engaging mechanics that have a lot of potential. Excellent excellent work
A few small QOL changes would really make this super, stuff like being able to drag and reposition the slot within the grid. I think the game is really good, I'm itching for more, I hope you get good feedback so you make more!
Yeah, that's definitely planned. We had to cut some features to save time. Maybe in a post jam version!
Great game~ It took a while to understand how to play the game but after trial and error, I think I understand how the gameplay works and beat all 5 enemies. I do find it annoying to drag the slot into the inventory when I just want to move it to the side of the slots. Also had to play on Fullscreen just to see the texts. No clear information on the side buttons do except for the forge one. Really cool concept!
I quite liked this submission (especially since it's a fellow roguelike/lite, though the difference in polish and the amount of hours that went into your group's project is apparent), although it does take a second to get a handle on. At first I was thinking "where's the spinning?" before clocking that my attacks were literally slots in a slot machine. I think visually it could've benefitted from an animation (even as simple as the items in a reel teleporting up and down as its spawned in) could've helped to reinforce the link to the theme and make it more apparent. Also a fullscreen mode would be incredibly helpful given how much reading is involved (some of the fonts on the reel tooltips were hard to read).
Aside from that, a solid submission and definitely a game I would play in my free time!
Thanks for playing We were struggling a bit with the reel visuals and how to make it work with weapons. We chose a simpler slots animation to save time but in hindsight it would've been better to use a spinning animation
There is a fullscreen button on the webGL build on the botrom right.
The fullscreen button didn't seem to work for me... although this seems to be a persistent issue across unity games.
Very solid and interesting project, would love to play this game on phone! Visuals are 10/10
This is really good!! Shockingly so for the amount of time. The game is fun, looks great, with great music and sfx. My only complaint is that it's easy to get stuck rolling blocks and mana regeneration, with no damage output, though that could just be an rng issue / I made bad choices. Great game!
Very enjoyable, reminds me of Balatro but PvP in some ways. What I've really enjoyed:
- The visuals and audio are spot on for these kinds of games, especially when you get an insane 3x2 grid of swords going off ham with the BLIM and BLAM like you're in a proper slot machine. I love dopamine.
My biggest area of improvement as a suggestion would be:
- The game can hop back and forth between extremely hype moments where you deal 100+ damage, to a series of bad rolls where you're just rolling shields, mana which feels like it slows the pacing down a bit. I've only played up until when my grid expanded once so I may have missed this but maybe if there was a way to re-roll the actual reels you pull (not just the tiles inside the reels)?
Thanks. Yeah it's challenging to balance. We aimed for something like Slice and Dice where randomness is embraced but you're given the tools to play around it.
Regarding the draw issue, there are hand size upgrades later on but a spell for drawing at the cost of mana would be good.
The mechanics definitely have a lot of potential and maybe I'll revisit this mechnanic from a different lens in the future. Perhaps the deck part is unnecessary.
Great game, very fun! It's givin ''number go up'' but instead health goes down :P
It took me a while to figure out exactly how things worked but the whole thing looks super polished and well produced, incredible job done in such a short time!
I'm dumb so took a while but I got the hang of it and love spamming 5000 swords... I love the pixel art, and the animations (with the sfx) are just crispy... Love the chiptune track too, it loops perfectly and suits the game. The bows and the orbital satellite (???) are really cool! Great polish!
It looks very polished - Well done!! Keep up the great work.
Some feedback:
- Fullscreen doesn't appear to be working. When I tried it just fullscreened, but the main screen remained the same size. So this made it a bit harder to play, as my screen looks quite small
- I would have loved a bit more tutorial on what I was meant to be doing. I saw the text in the description, "Drag the slots into the player's grid to build chains. Then hit end turn," but I still wasn't really clear what this meant.
- For the stats increase on the player end, blue is a bit hard to read, so something more legible would be great!
Thanks for playing! Tutorials got pushed to last minute, so sorry about that.
There should be a build with tutorials up now.
