The game is interesting, and it looks very pretty. I have a few things that were a little weird going through the game. Like, the fact that I had to, unless there was something I missed, just spam q and go off to the side to find the first part of the game seemed a little weird and unintuitive. I had a blue and yellow thing I had to do but no green thing, so I reached the door and it just ended, so I might have broke something. The circle gate things don't feel like an interesting thing to interact with in the environment, and instead just feel time wasting since there is no puzzle or difficulty element associated with them. The bubble collecting was a little tedious because there didn't seem like an obvious or good strategy for knowing how to catch them. Overall it does feel like a good idea is beneath the surface, but the puzzle design could use some work to not feel quite as blind, and the art is really nice and impressive for what you could do and implement in the time, so the game was really nice to look at while figuring it all out.

I'm not sure, but I probably broke the game while was playing. The doors weren't working for me, so I decided to explore the map by flying while was changing gravity. I progressed to some point, but when I've changed it under the location with green door it teleported me to the ending even if I haven't collected all frags which were needed. Still I think you did a great job. Nice graphic, music, idea... it's just unlucky me

Developer(+1)

It didn't break the game, but it didn't progress at all, it likely crashed; the green entity came back, but nothing happens. You need to explore to actually play the genre.

Hi from reddit! Loved the game. At first I wasnt sure what the bubbles did but I just kept playing around and exploring and it was really nice that the game allowed me to do that. its quite a peaceful game and I think you should definitely continue with it!

Thanks

I got this game in my queue and am very surprised about how good it is. One problem I had is that I didn´t really know what was my goal or how to reach it and I thought I was doing everything wrong, until I suddenly got to ur message XD.
If you wanna work on it in order to release it someday, be aware that indie game dev can take multiple years and make sure that this is really the one idea you wanna pursue, otherwise you´ll probably quit developpment a few months in...

But I think this has potential, especially if you add some more mechanics (incrementally) and explain the objective a bit better to the player.

Developer

Thanks, friend. A community interested in the game is forming on Reddit. I’ve already released three games on Steam; this will be my fourth, and I intend to finish it. I think I’ll just need some financial support so it doesn't end up shelved.

This honestly was such a beautiful game. It was recommended to me so I wouldn't have found it otherwise. The music and art were so lovely. I was intimidated by the world turning at first, but then it became near-second nature. Really fun mechanics and such an interesting idea. It was a bit confusing at first, but exploring helped show what was needed. The bees, however, were explanatory for how to catch them having the bubble mechanic. Can't wait to see it finished. Also, I love the logo and the little guy in game.

I struggled a lot to understand what was even going on, but once I did was pleasantly surprised by this game! It has made me feel like I am playing fez for the first time again. I thought I was cheeky when I found places away from spawn by spinning the world to get further, but finding out that was intended was a nice surprise! The birds took me a while, and the numbers in the top left confused me since when I collected orbs they didn't change, but I figured it after playing for a while. Happy to see more tackling the metroidbraina genre!

Thanks! That prototype was made in five days for a game jam, so I didn't have much time to fully flesh everything out, but a lot of ideas came to me while I was programming the game. So now, I'm continuing to develop it and refine those ideas.

God damn, this game really just oozes aesthetic. My only complaint is the web build lagged quite often, and, of course, the ending! I was so excited to see where it was going.

The visual art direction, sound effects, and ambience all fit together so nicely and I love love love that you don’t really handhold objectives or tell us what to do. Explore, play with the mechanics available, figure it out. Very satisfying when you try something and it clicks. And the worldbuilding is just so intriguing with questions just begging to be answered.

Great job, even if you didn’t finish as much as you would have liked, I think you still have something special here!

Spinning the world around as a way to get to seemingly unreachable places is really cool. Great concept!

i have NEVER been so dissapointed over a game ending (because i wanted to keep playing), you've somehow managed to make a non combat focused metroidvania for a game jam and you should be proud, the game was amazing, it really reminded me of games like hollow knight or even dark souls, not in combat but in worldbuilding, without any lines of dialogue you've managed to convey so much of the world and who the player is, the game is gorgeous and i'll definetly copy this single color pixel art style for a project of my own some day because i loved it.

I want to know more about this world, i want to keep exploring, what was the green being that comes out of the ground? why is everything white including the player? why are we bringing life to the world? you're right thinking this game has potential, it's definetly one of those games that feel bigger than they are and i loved it.

There's some improvements too, first of all, the controls are a bit badly positioned, specially C for the bubbles, and while you can jump with space bar, in game you only mention enter. Also the bird catching with the bubbles was by far the worst part of the game, the birds fly away off screen, where bubbles cannot reach them, and while you can reach them yourself by spinning the world properly, it's really hard. Maybe reworking how the birds or the bubbles work would be smart.

Another area of improvement is just a little bit more player guidance, im not saying add explanations or yellow paint, that would completly ruin this game, but maybe a little jingle when the player is doing something to progress, for example when you're creating grass at the start, the music could do a small change while you are making new grass and return to normal while not, also some particles could be included and some camera effects. Also, the "You're smart enough to figure out what to do" sounds a bit condescending, maybe different wording would be better!

in terms of the music, it was fine, it fit the theme, but this game has so much soul in it that you could notice the music wasn't made by the same person that made the rest, if you keep going with this project i'm not going to tell you to learn music theory and sfx, but you should definetly pair up or hire someone that can handle that with as much passion as you've put into this game.

I really enjoyed this one! I think it does a really good job of setting expectations from the start by directly telling you that it won't hold your hand, and you'll have to experiment in order to figure it out. The art was fantastic, and the music choice fit really well. I think the only issue I really had was that it was a little tedious gathering the birds at the start. I found the best strategy was basically to try to fall on top of them and time the bubble just right so that I could grab the bird as I fell past hahaha. I loved the sense of discovery though, and how weird and surreal everything was. I think I detect some Hollow Knight influence in the art too :) Great job! Would love to see more if you decide to continue development.

Finding out that you had to paint everything green to unlock the first path was a little confusing but not frustrating, the graphics are absolutely beautiful and the controls feel crisp, congrats!

Developer

Thank you. That’s the idea—to make the player feel a sense of worth for every discovery.

i was stuck for a bit on where to go, but i eventually figured it out. what a nice game! the visuals are fantastic, the only thing that left a bit to be desired was the generic sound effects—i feel like they contrast with the striking and new-age-retro visual style a bit. the game also seems to run a little low framerate in browser. but honestly i agree, there is a great concept here and the execution is just as good, i would love to see it as a finished game, i could easily imagine it as a beloved steam indie hidden gem kind of game!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback. I know the beginning can feel frustrating when the player doesn't know what to do, but the idea is for them to learn intuitively and realize they succeeded through their own merit. I had many ideas I couldn't quite pull off—like a scalable Colossus, for instance. But yes, I do want to turn this game into a Steam project. I hope to secure funding for it.

the art and sfx are really good but i feel like you should have arrows guiding the player towards the palace place, and i think you should try to tell the player that you can just keep using spin to travel without keeping contact with the floor

Loved that visuals and music!!! wow! I felt a bit lost and can't finish the game, but looks really cool and beauty.

Best part: the bubbles, very serious

I love the visuals and the music. I think it would do well to hint where to go, but it was very pleasant non the less.
