I liked the theme and idea. It works well but i think not very straight forward to understand. And it would be nice to have an option to skip the introduction, it is a bit boring to wait for text

This is a really excellent first jam submission! Do ya'll already have game dev experience? Blackjack with a bit of a twist is pretty well scoped for a week. You've got great pixel art, fun music, and voice acting really stands out in a jam. I played some last night before bed and came back today and was very surprised to see saved progress too!
Some feedback from me: It took me a little longer than I'd like to admit to realize I had to click the deal button to start the game. I think I'd try something to make it more obvious like highlighting it or putting it center screen. The one thing that this game is missing though is in game sound effects. You have great music and voice acting, but nothing during the gameplay. Sound is the biggest bang for your buck you can get for game feel.
For your next jam, I think you should get some placeholder sounds in early. It's tough to do sound implementation if you leave it for later, but it becomes really manageable if while you're making mechanics you add placeholder sounds in. It'll make your game feel better instantly, and it's much easier to go back and replace the sound file rather than do the whole implementation, and you won't forget about it since you'll hear the placeholder sounds in development. Also generic placeholder sounds are often better than no sound at all if they make it into submission.
Very impressed awesome job!
what can I say, it's blackjack!! you mentioned having a lot of plans for this so I'm curious what you can come up with, in my opinion giving the player more control over how the game goes would go a long way if you're trying to make something like balatro, even if it's no longer actual blackjack, just so long as it's fun
also, the music was nice!
It was fun! The audio was a bit loud though. The general loop of it seems fun long term especially if you were originally planning to add more! Nice work
Thank you for your comment!! The original idea was very cool but since this was our first ever Game Jam we messed up the scope. So we couldn't really integrate all things we wanted to. The connection to the theme was very simple, spin to win could be interpreted as gambling so what's more gamble-esque than Blackjack! XD
We'll work on this project afterwards too so it will feel like a proper complete game. Thank you :D
