This is a very good prototype/idea, but I wish there could've been more content overall. Additionally, I didn't fully understand the cards and a little indicator would have been nice to see when they were actively working. Otherwise it was a fun tower defense game with much future potential!

I like the idea here and when fleshed out with all the tower defense mechanics and deck builder mechanics I think there really is something here. Managing money to upgrade towers and mana to cast spells, having different builds to focus on each half of the game. There really is potential I hope you both continue with it!
Cool take on the tower defense genre!! The card mechanic adds variety and gives each run some unpredictability. My biggest suggestion would be to speed up the pacing a bit, or have a speed changing option like sims or somethng.
But i found the using cards on towers mechanic fun, i can imagine a late version of this game where you are flinging cards regaining mana drawing new cards or something.
With some extra polish and balancing, this could become a really fun game. Nice job!
You left a very elaborate comment on my game, which I'm grateful for, so I'll do the same :))
Pros
- Creativity: this is the first tower defense game I encounter, which I really liked.
- Decks: this feature adds a lot to the game. You don't just sit back and wait, you have to time abilities.
- Spin: having to spin for your next encounter is a nice way to use the theme. It adds variety and excitement.
Cons
- Speed: The enemies are very slow. Maybe you could increase their base speed and the base shooting speed? This would keep the current difficulty but speed up the entire game.
- Visuals: Good start but a visual upgrade would help this game a lot.
- Music: Some music would help tremendously.
General feedback
- The game feels like a really strong backbone to a future game. This is what game jams are all about. You practiced your skills and now you'll be able to create better games (or even finish this one).
- I'll be waiting for the shops and events :-)
- Great job!
I think the idea of having powerup-cards to boost your power in tower defence is cool, and the cards you have right now are pretty funny haha. It would be really nice with a speedup button because the enemies move a bit slow. Also I didnt really understand what the spin theme was, I saw you could spin the arrow and then be forced to walk in a direction? I just didnt use the spin button haha
Despite its underbaked state it has a good core. I'd like to see harder levels with more enemies, better art and polish. Has great potential overall
I think there are alot of solid concepts here! But sadly none of them really had enough depth to get going in the game. Good job though!
There's a lot of ideas here that each can be made into their own game lol. I commend you for trying out many different things in one game, but it produced slow gameplay that reduced the fun a little. You have great implementation of these ideas though, so playtesting and choosing your favorite one to expand on would be a great start! Good job :)
hey congrats on getting your game submitted, I do like if the enemies are harder. the isometric view is good.
hm, really slow game, throw more enemies, playtest your game more with question in mind, if this wasn't mine game would I play it at all? this kind of things helps a lot. Nice try)
Congratulations on your submission! As devs who also built a roguelike, we know how challenging it can get. The core gameplay loop has potential, but like others have said, the pacing is a bit too slow. I didn't see the spinning theme either, correct me if I missed it.
A roguelike tower defense is an ideia that's worth developing, but hard for a jam. Kudos to you for taking that risk.
I think the idea of having cards in a tower defense game is unique, but the game was never hard enough to where they felt like they mattered. I think increasing the speed of the enemies and perhaps even a fast forward mode like bloons could be a good addition. I think making the cards feel more impactful by buffing them could be balanced by the faster enemies. Nice start though and I hope you continue!
I think the randomized powerups are an interesting idea, but the randomization has to feel important. It could be really cool if the game was expanded and the powerups you draw force you to adjust your play style. Definitely a very interesting and ambitious project!
The randomized powerups are a clever way to bring variety to the genre, although obviously it's largely unfinished and suffers from pacing issues. It's hard to tell if something like this would work without being a little more fleshed out but the concept is pretty inherently interesting because tower defenses are badass.
Tower defense is one of my favorite genres, so I really enjoyed trying this out. Overall it was a pleasant experience — I just would have loved to see a bit more creativity in the visuals and modeling.
Pacing is very slow. And it was way too easy, forgot put towers on one round and still survived.
I like the game dev theme, it gave me a chuckle.
I think the overall speed of the game (towers shooting and the enemies movement) should be a little faster.
Interesting concept though, I hope you keep adding to it!
