The gameplay reminded me of Paper Mario: The Origami King; the art is great as well
Thanks for your comment! Origami King was one of our main inspirations.
This is a really interesting game. I like the mechanic where you stop a spinning indicator—like a roulette wheel—to determine where to attack. I also enjoy being able to switch between different weapons to change the attack range. It’s clear that very serious effort went into making this game!
Thanks so much! I'm' glad you liked it
The art is so perfect!
Thanks a lot for your comment!
Awesome game! It was super fun to play and pretty hard.
I could imaginea full fledged game like this and it would be awesome!
Thanks so much! I'm happy you had fun with it.
Interesting strategy game! It’s cool that card upgrades are saved after each rerun, which makes the game feel less difficult over time. It's cool that you included a guide at the start and clear objectives showing how to beat each level. The spinning wheel used to choose attacks fits the theme too. The final boss OST also gave me an old Castlevania NES vibe. Nice job!
Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you had fun.
Great job! Quite a big fan of the gameplay even though it took me a while to get the tempo of the attacks. Great way of implementing the spinning mechanic!
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you liked it.
I really had a fun time with the game. The only flaws i think it has is that it is a little too difficult to aim the attacks and also the mouse being enabled would help in using the UI
Thanks for your comment! Mouse controls were definetly on our plans, but we couldn't implement it in time. Thanks for your feedback though.
I really like this, also extremely polished, bit of an overwhelming game tho. one thing i personally dont liked is that i had to time my attacks, i found the game hard as it already is and im not a fan of timing stuff that much so.. Otherwise very enjoyable and unique idea!
Thanks for your comment! The timing can be a bit tricky but it's a main part of the core mechanic. I'm glad you liked it though.
Really nice game. It was a little bit difficult for me, but I don't really play these type of games in my free time so that could be why.
The game loop felt really fun and the visual art style was really nice. Great job!
Thanks for you comment! I'm glad you liked it.
Really solid game, the art was really cute, really interesting mechanic, I didn't do very well but could see how, for people into this type of game, it could become super addictive. Nice work!
Thanks for your comment! We weren't able to explain all the mechanics clearly in game but I'm glad you liked it still.
This is a very cool game. I really liked it. A little too tough at the beginning, as I was getting squished but very fun!
Thanks! I'm glad you had fun.
I was struggling a lot in the beginning and aaaaalmost gave up, but after a couple tries I learned the mechanics and managed to defeat the final dragon! i think it would have been very nice with a simpler level in the beginning like a tutorial, and I also think the spin was a liiittle too fast, I kept missing it even at the end of the game haha. Other than that I think it was very well executed and a creative idea!
Thanks for your comment! We planned on having a scripted tutorial level, but time was running short and we weren't able to impement it before the deadline. Thanks for your feedback.
That's totally understandable. It's already impressive that you got the game working in only a week with both the levels and the map!
Ooo! Were you inspired by Paper Mario, specifically The Origami King, for this? Great idea to use this combat system for the theme. Do agree with another commenter that it feels like it started out with too many enemies. I know it's for the combos, but I think the game building up to the big combo moments would feel like good progression for the player.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, Origami King was one of our main inspirations, the other one being a mobile game called Micro RPG. You could be right, we might test the first levels with fewer enemies in a future build. Thanks for your feedback though.
Definitely please keep going! Would love to see another build / what other ideas y'all come up with.
Great game! Reminds me of Slay the Spire with the map. It started off a bit hard but it wasn't unmanageable as I got the hang of it.
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you liked it.
What an original idea here! I haven't seen anything quite like it in the jam, and I like it. My only note is that the game starts off with a little too many enemies. I needed some time to figure out the controls. But the instructions were clear and I really liked the mechanic overall!
Thanks for your comment! The enemies are needed for the combos, so fewer enemies actually mean less damage, but we could have the enemies in the first stages be weaker to let the player take their time. Thanks for your feedback!
I think this is my favorite game in this jam I've played so far, super well polished! It took a second to get used to the controls, but when I did I got so sucked in. It doesn't feel intuitive at first, so a guided tutorial showing an example turn would've be helpful. I couldn't beat the boss, but I had fun reaching there and mainly used the spear weapon the whole time. I think you should keep working on this one.
Thanks for the feedback. We planned on having an interactive tutorial level, but time was running short so we had to rush in some GIFs instead. I agree it can be confusing at first, but I'm glad you liked it.
The combat system is really original and I liked how it mixes strategy with puzzle-like decision making. Choosing the right weapon and positioning your attacks made every encounter feel satisfying, and the art and music fit the game very well.
The only thing I'd improve is the onboarding. It took me a little while to understand.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, the controls can get a little confusing at first, but with a keyboard I think there's not much room for improvement. We could have it so that you rotate and slide the rings with the mouse, but we were too far into the game jam to change into that. Thanks for your feedback though.
I think this game has a great foundation. Only thing is I think there were way too many enemies starting out. It would have been really nice to have a few starting levels with very few enemies to teach the basics then slowly increase the difficulty as you go on. Overall this is a solid entry. Good job!
Thanks for your comment! We have thought about this, but less enemies actually makes the game harder, as there are less opportunities to line up and ramp up damage. We could have enemies on the earlier levels be less aggressive though. Thanks for your feedback.
This kind of roguelike games tend to be more action-loaded, and it felt like that surrounded by enemies at first. It took a while to get it that it is more of a puzzle game. Looking which enemies to place how and then choosing the right weapon was interesting.
At least once I have found out that Y and Z are switched here depending on the keyboard (yeah I know it's not that uncommon I could have realized it sooner xD), which is why I have spent the whole first encounter without realizing how to correctly swap lol.
Interesting concept, very solid art and music. A great game overall :)
Thanks for you comment! I'm glad you had fun.
that's pretty strategic, good job for the art too, n btw i need some rates, can u test mine?
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I'm gonna give yours a shot.
