Very fun game ! I like the take on the cleaning sims for this jam. I do think the controls a bit too unintuitive for me and you have to be really close to stuff to actually clean it, but I loved the fish tank environment! Great job!
This game has a lot of potential! Here is my breakdown:
*Graphics
The game looks nice, the water effects are good. The dirt texture updating felt responsive. The scuba mask around the screen is a nice touch, it would be cool if the main part of the mask had lens dirt or shines when looking at bright things to really sell the illusion. The UI was a little basic and close together, so it was hard to decipher it at first. The 3d models look good, and the fish animations are also very good.
*Audio
This game either has no audio or I experienced a bug, either way it is a game jam game so it is not that big of a deal.
*Design
The concept is very good! Powerwash simulator but underwater is an awesome idea. The underwater aspect lets you maneuver all around the object, and clean every side of it. The cleaning device rotating is an interesting way to incorporate the theme. The movement, is strange. Having most of the screen be a dead zone in theory lets you anchor your camera and focus on a specific area. This does work (even though moving the device around pushes you off the wall) although, it makes moving the camera very clunky. Like, to the point it is frustrating. Being underwater means I want to maneuver around easier not harder, because the extra dimension of movement requires more complex and precise movement to properly orient myself to clean. Maybe this movement style would work better in a game that has more traditional movement, but here I just do not see the advantage. Other games have had even more complex movement like rotation in the 3d space, that requires precision , and didn't need this camera style (like outer wilds). The ability to inflate and deflate is a nice quality of life feature, I quite like that. It would be nice if instead of pulling you up or down (which I can already do by ascending or descending), it was a binary where inflated freezes you at the current depth, and deflated does not affect movement. I think the generous win state was implemented to ease onboarding, because what if they miss a pixel of dirt somewhere, right? The thing is one of the main draws of games like powerwash simulator is taking up a task and meticulously seeing it to completion, and then admiring your work. If a pixel is missed somewhere, then I feel most people wouldn't mind hunting it down in the name of finishing. Plus, I saw you changed the dirt color to green, so it wouldn't be too hard to find. In the future you could also add a dirt scan feature, that highlights dirt for a second for situations like these.
Overall camera controls aside, I has fun and thought the cleaning was satisfying. Keep it up!
Thank you for the thorough feedback!
No audio is not a bug; we simply ran out of time before we could get it in. We will definitely be continuing work on the controller and movement, since we did not nail it the way we wanted to. We’ll also be making adjustments to the dirt and cleaning feedback.
The mask idea is great, and we’ll see how we can incorporate something like that into a future release. We really appreciate the kind words and the time you took to test out this MVP.
Join our Discord, and once we get the game into a more polished state, we’ll send you a Steam key. :)
I'm a big fan of games like powerwash simulator so this was very cool! Sadly the movement/cleaning wasn't very comfortable and janky so I spent a lot of time just readjusting and clicking to try to get the spots off. Maybe a way to see the inputs in-game? I had a hard time memorizing all of them :') I really like the theme and the settings though, it's very pretty. Also very impressive to make in 7 days, great job to all of you :D Got it all done in around 5 minutes so even while struggling it's not too bad ! You can definitely keep working on this and polishing it and it'll turn out to be a very cool full game, the underwater setting really sells it!
Thank you so much for playing and for the thoughtful reply! We were definitely going for something with a similar vibe to power wash simulator so I'm glad it seemed to fit that niche. I think in the future we would definitely add the player controls as an option from a pause menu, there just wasn't time to implement it in this jam. I'm glad that even with some of the kinda clunky controls you were still able to complete it in a reasonable time! We definitely hope to take some more time to hone and polish it into a full game.
Interesting take on the powerwash simulator type game, I love that you are in an aquarium (not sure if very big aquarium and fish or very small cleaner, I like either). Struggles a little to feel great control/movement wise, not sure how you solve that while keeping the underwater physics though. I'm sure you can figure it out if you plan to keep working on it post-jam - maybe some kind of bracing against the surface so you don't bounce off trying to get close enough for the tool to work?
Impressive output for a 7 day jam nonetheless, great job!
Love that idea of a brace - will def start looking into that, also thank you for embracing our game, it means the world :)
As a perfectionist this was at the same time very fun and a nightmare, lol
At first I had some trouble understanding what I was supposed to clean, so I explored the whole space and eventually tried to clean the circular spots on the cube and understood I had to be very very close for it to work.
The slow movement speed (even though accurate for the environment) made it a bit frustrating as was the fact that the game stopped before I had completely finished cleaning the last item hehe.
The fishes and corals are super cute and the effect of the light through the water is phenomenal!!
Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply, I'm glad to hear you were able to figure out how to clean it and that you got invested enough to be frustrated by our overly-generous win-state lol. And thank you for noticing the light effects and decor, we worked really hard to get this to play on web!
Thank you for playing and just a sneak peak for you –> Tutorial Video that we are adding once the jam is done.
The worst thing that could happen to a perfectionist - and I like it!
Thanks for playing and lol we know, it can be satisfying to clean but also a bit frustrating since we preferred to have an overly generous win state rather than an overly strict one.
I couldn't find where I needed to clean... however, this was super creative and the visuals are really impressive. There's definitely a lot here.
That’s fair, thank you for the feedback. Maybe we should do a slime instead of dirt color. Thank you for checking it out!
Unfortunately my laptop was not ready for unity and I got no cleaning done but I had fun time exploring.
Thank you for checking it out! And we are working on making it lighter. Thank you for exploring!
