This game is really fun, it has some issues with balancing (my first 2 runs died almost instantly  my 3rd made it to inf), but my only real issue is that I had trouble telling where the lines between sections of the same colour are

Pretty badass. I got to round 45 and could've probably kept going for a good while. I could see the idea having a lot of room to grow in incentivizing the different adds, modifiers, goals etc. I like the idea of buildcrafting each wheel to a degree, and being able to change them out.

Honestly a lot here to like, and it already has an addictive quality. Extra props for using Love but I'm biased ;)

Developer

Thanks for playing! First time using Love on a jam, figured it fit the more procedural rendering I’m doing here. I usually use Godot and I think I would’ve been fighting the engine and doing custom drawing anyway if I hadn’t picked Love. It’s a great little framework, might try using it more often because of how simple it is

That was actually a fun and kind of addicting game! Very simple but I enjoyed it! RNG was on my side and i somehow got to round 29 lol

Pretty cool game idea but i think it's a bit difficult.

Enjoyed this game! I have terrible RNG and the farthest I got was level 8, but I really enjoyed the roguelike elements and the gameplay. Would love to see this game with improved audio and maybe a bigger lean into the current art style. Great game!

This could be the start of a great roguelike but I have a couple notes.

1. The spinning sound is AWFUL , it feels so awkward and just like WHY.

2. Xscore needs to be more balanced, they make it so you can reach the current desired score and the next one so it doesnt matter what the next spin is if its not detrimental.

1. noted

2. yeah, the early game is kind of too difficult but once you're off the ground, it's too easy to keep going. hard to get the momentum, hard to slow it down

Submitted

The game is VERY difficult, and just doesn't really look too crazy good honestly. It's such a basic game, also it's really hard to read a lot of the text since so much of it spawns upside down. But cool another person used LOVE!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Wasn't able to take full advantage of the full week, so I absolutely agree with your points here. Needs some balancing, some better UI design, and definitely some stuff to make it visually interesting. First time using LOVE for a jam also, coming from Godot, so a lot of lessons learned. Glad to see you're using it as well!

Yeah same here, had to restart 3 days in, so only had 4 days for my own game! Glad your enjoying LOVE it's been my main editor of choice for so long now might use Godot one day though

Pretty neat little game! I like the rounds system and the wheel selection system, but tbh I do think the game is a little too hard. After a solid 20 mins the furthest I made it was round 5 lmao, idk maybe I'm just unlucky. Nice job though!

Surprisingly addictive for being so simple, great job!

My RNG was pretty good so I got to round 15 lol

Developer

Try again! I made a small update with sounds and some more player agency and balancing

Submitted(+1)

I think, if you turn the “wheel improvements” into a shop, or at least incorporate some player agency, you have a game concept.

Right now this is just an idle clicker, or am i missing something?

Developer (3 edits)

I agree, even with a couple upgrade wheels instead of just one. Right now you’re at the mercy of RNG until you get a good lineup of wheels, which might never happen.

If given time, I’d probably force the max number of wheels the player can have to 3, forcing you to delete one. Then letting you choose between 3 upgrade wheels with 2 slots each. Probably balance the weights of some of the slots too.

Developer

I was able to quickly incorporate some of this into the late submission period since the changes were simple enough to make

Yes, it plays much better now. Also sound effect + audio is new right?

you should consider adding a disclaimer though, because the late submission 24h period was not supposed to allow for any feature changes, only bug fixes.

Not trying to downplay your improvements, it is good to see you engaging and acting on the feedback provided, but also consider that the host of the jam may not approve this (not sure how relax/serious they usually are with this).

I had the same concerns, I talked about it in the discord a bit. I hope these comments being here give that indication since I don’t mean to be deceptive about it

edit: I do think it should be more upfront so I did go ahead and add a disclaimer to the game page itself. thanks for the input and for playing!
