Very unique idea for the concept, I loved it!
One small critique would be to add some difficulty/challenge which will require the player to utilize the cool mechanics that you have implemented. I found out about them after reading other people's comments about the game.

For my playthrough, I just did two in-game days of proposals. After that, I made a proposal that would counter a majority of Yue's proposal, and I just got lucky! I never used any abilities or the title feature, which I see other people mentioning.

Apart from that, the game is an excellent bite-sized experience perfect for a one-week jam! Really impressive how much polish you put into it. Good job!

This game is incredible, especially considering how little time it was made in. It's very polished and well thought out. I really liked the freedom to build your character however you want before each battle. That makes the gameplay even more fun and rewarding. It's truly an amazing game. Congratulations!

Yooo this game is insane. Everything is so cool!! This game speaks to me in so many ways, I really really like all the dashed lines on the buttons, that's a super creative UI choice, like the way the icons and everything become dashed when you spin, omg that's so good. And the CD shine broo that's so fire. And the distorted grid background that moves and fades in when you enter battle and the way the world shifts with mouse pos. And even the google docs UI in the banner and the fact that the points icon is the pilcrow broo this game excites so much

Thank you for playing! I wish I did the office software motif a little better but I’m happy you noticed it!

This game looks great as a concept and idea, but it also seems so complex to learn at this point in the jam. I can’t reach the brain energy to learn it and play it, but I can say some constructive criticism for the future:

  • The color contrast needs to be worked on to make reading more readable. There are many bits of text that are light brown on dark brown, and that won’t do.
  • The intro was fun. It was good. Unserious (due to the shortened words), but fun, and funny.
  • The collab mode seems so cool. I haven’t played it with anyone, and I can’t until I figure out how to play myself. But it seems like such a neat idea, and cute.
  • Cognitive-wise, we’d really benefit from an interactive tutorial. It’s like I said - at this point in the jam it’s a lot to take in. And the wheel has so many actions we can do, and I have no clue how to actual balance each section of the budget. Can we interview people to find out what’s the most important thing?
  • The UI of each slice in my wheel only has an icon; I don’t know what their label is. I don’t know what they stand for…
  • And I don’t understand how to add new expenses to my budget. Or even how to edit it (I tried to add something but I couldn’t really do it?…
  • How do I save my chart? When I press the back button, it asks me if I want to exit, and if I do, I have unsaved changes. I don’t find any save icon in the UI! (Nevermind! This was confusing. It would be better if there was an icon to save. You should have a button to save; and then when exiting, something like “Save and exit”, “Exit without saving” or “cancel”?)
  • I have some trouble understanding the grid of what beats what. And I don’t exactly understand how to beat the next co-worker (Ash).
  • I love unlocking new expenses. It’s really about learning what we need in the proposal. We can’t have a good proposal if we don’t know what’s involved.

Thank you for the thorough feedback, I’ll see if I can incorporate some of your suggestions into a post jam update.

  • In the prepare menu selecting a slice lets you read some info about it. You can select a slice by click and dragging the chart and bringing the section you want to focus to the rightmost side of the screen.
  • In the prepare menu, on PC, hovering white icons should show prompts on the left side of the screen describing what they do, The top right “+” button in this menu let’s you add new slices, the bottom right “refresh” button lets you change the expense.
  • I’ll reword the text in the save confirmation menu, it’s pretty bad haha.
  • When looking at the affinity grid you can click two coloured expense icons to test how they interact, rather than reading it from the chart. (The chart kinda sucks ;-;)
  • Since the game is just rock paper scissors, you just put things in your proposal that oppose the things in your opponents proposal according to the affinity chart. Sadly the information about your opponents proposal is only communicated by colour so it can be tricky to discern what to use in some cases.

Thank you for playing!

I rated this game right at the start of the jam but im leaving a comment now that ive managed to beat Yue (3 times in a row on the same save file 😎). Absolute banger, idk if the affinity/weakness table is new or I missed it the first time but it was a huge help in making my strat. I picked 2 big sections, marketing and another one that together cover the entire spectrum without overlap then got a few smaller sections to counter anything that beats my 2 main ones, that with Vice President + Clerk build. I also finally figured out what the prestige is (I thought it was money first lol I was wondering where’s the shop). The dialogue and story is incredibly charming, level of polish and animation in the UI reminds me of Persona and the visuals are a very good match for the theme and are a great choice for a jam. One of my favs in the jam, solid job

Developer(+1)

I added the affinity table during the extra 24 hrs, so it’s sorta new haha. Thank you for playing! Your entry is one of my favs also!

The amount of polish is lowkey impressive asf.

Developer

Thank you thank you!

What an absolute blast! Everything is so polished and lively. I had a lot of time preparing and setting up for fights. I luckily was able to best my crush's proposal with the power of marketing, it felt awesome winning with it three times in a row! I'm amazed on how you made this in just 8 days, it's very impressive!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the praise! Honestly though, I think your entry is a million times more impressive. I’m still shocked at how good it felt and how fun it was to play, holy cow.

Thank you for playing!

Abilities are wack!!!

Developer

Yea they’re a little all over the place haha. Thank you for playing!

This looks super good and polished and is a cool idea, it definitely needs a tutorial in the game to help explain things but otherwise this is rlly epic, the UI and style goes hard

Developer(+1)

Sorry for the lack of tutorial! Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Damn. This is surprisingly polished

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Amazing entry! You need to give me courses on how to design a game in such a beautiful way, the UI is spot on, the graphics are nice and chunky, and the mechanic is extremely unique! I have not been able to beat the game, and i'm not sure what the winning strategy is, I've actually had gotten closer to winning by spamming the randomize option than trying to come up with a strategy of my own, but after so many attempts I can confidently say this game is addicting :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! My winning strategy is to equip “lovestruck” twice and compose your spinner with big sections that counter or tie the sections in your opponents spinner. No more than six is usually needed. Then it just up to luck that your spinner spins well haha…

Without a doubt, this game has to be the game with the most polished UI in this jam! It's smooth, it's pretty, and it's good. Honestly, I'm jealous! But rather happy for you that you have the ability to create such beauty in your game visuals and have its own unique appearance. Nice Work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the praise and thank you for playing! The UI isn’t perfect but I’m very proud of what I pulled off!
