- This game was a lot of fun to play. Fully 3D, excellent sound and music design.

I had ran the Windows build of this game through Wine so I could play it on Mac. It seems like the flashlight doesn't work correctly for me, so I ended up stumbling around confused in the intro and struggles discerning platforms against walls. I wont deduct points for this, but it might be worth adding some contrast to the platforms you need to jump on. Beyond that, this game was pretty good! The visuals for the UI in particular I loved the most, though the world itself could have a little more work beyond a bunch of cubes.
The dropper sections were long but not necessarily hard, which is good, but the checkpoints could've been a little more frequent since they're only fun the first run through when they're that sparse. The second dropper part is definitely much more engaging, though it's a bit hard to keep up with what's going on, and the slam ability can accidentally make it harder than it should be. The last button on that dropper is rude, though. For the navigation parts, the worldbuilding is quite engaging and the part I enjoyed the most (great tie to the theme!), even if the world didn't fully reflect what was stated. That being said, the difficulty of the platforming isn't consistent throughout the game (there's both tight parts and wide platforms throughout), and the screamer sections weren't any bit interesting (they stop chasing once out of sight), and the second one secluded in a little wall felt cheesy compared to the first one.
The soundtrack for this game is stellar. The video itself does a pretty good job at setting up your expectations, though I forgot to watch that first so I can't really give a proper rating...
absolute peak
Game Quality: at surface seems exelent allthoug one star is deducted by default for not understanding the concept of a gamejam and keeping scope creep under control. The game also is FILLED with little things that make the game play feel worse, from the red walls in the dropper sections being undetectable until you collide with them, to having to platform across thin platforms in the dark with a lazer pointer flashlight, to to the "scary oogler" forgetting about the player the second line of sight is broken, making them ineffective as both a horror monster and a fun obstacle. There is something to be said about the quality and polish to be expected in a gamejam time frame but you all could not have taken any of those Three extra days to make the dash boost you up slightly? Allthoug I do admit when I was having fun it was good fun. 2/5 stars.
Video quality: It is well edited, intrigues, and makes the game look way funner than it is, evrything a trailer should do. 5/5 stars
Theme relation: The Crt filter and low poly astetic do feed well into the game's horror elements, alltough concetion to 200s ui is weak. The concept of mutations that not only give the player abilities but may "Mutate too much" while allready being in the player is a fun concept with Immense potential. 4/5 stars
Edit: raised game rating by one because many of the little things are less frustrating once youre used to them, reduced theme relation by one stars due to weakness of 2000s ui conection, then raised back up after explination
the ui was directly based on castlevania: sotn for the ps1, if you were curious. not what immediately comes to mind when you think 2000s but for me it fits, thanks for the feedback!!
