Very atmospheric! Although tbh not very fitting to the theme, because the spin mechanic kinda just felt like it got in the way. The level design was decent, although I don't like using level boundaries for required jumps like in this game, it can feel a little janky. Overall very solid and impressively polished and confident for a game jam game!

duck is by far my favorite holy moly i cant tell you how much fun it is to just run around and honk at things. i would love to see an entire game starring john duck :3 honk honk honk

It's very good, I could easily sink hours into a full version of this game. It could use some more spinning to win (and honestly I think the use of the theme holds it back more than it builds it up), but other than that I don't have any complaints. Well done.

I found the mechanic of switching characters which all do different things to solve puzzles really interesting and unique. I also loved how you have to figure out what everything does -- the game doesn't directly tell you anything, but it manages to communicate information through other means really well.

Overall, as someone who loves playing puzzle games, I enjoyed my experience a lot (I have not finished playing yet, though, since I want to rate more entries, but I do definitely want to continue after the rating period ends) and I'd say you did a great job!!

How is this so peak I'm crying, love the art style, love the ambient, love the music

Amazing concept, love the theme going on and how you fit in the spin to win with 4 different types of characters. This was such a cool experience, I loved the narration too- reminded me of deltarune/undertale in that regard.

Really solid entry! top 10 for me

0/10 i’m sorry it said you don’t win that means it’s not spin to win rahhhhhh

… Is what I wouldn’t ever say because that’s quite silly. This was absolutely a fantastic game and deserved every bit of the hype I heard about. My two, only, possible critiques is that:

  • It felt a bit jarring to hear footstep noises while the characters decidedly slid across the floor and did not step. Which is so incredibly minor as to be inconsequential.
  • The randomness felt kinda eh when you were waiting on one specific character to solve a puzzle and were just hoping for it to come. This is more core to the gameplay loop but with only four characters it was very much manageable. The game is incredibly polished, has fun progression, and was just a really great experience overall. Congrats!

That was amazing ! I was very frustrated at the beginning bc I thought the wheel was random so I kept spamming and getting the same creature over and over again and also accidentally mistaking the R button as a die quickly button so I reset my save by accident :D but then I asked you directly and I realized I just didn't read the description LOL Not the biggest fan of not being allowed to use the piano codes if you haven't been in the room :') but it's a short game, I lived.

The concept was very cool and it really reminded me of Animal Well :) I wasn't a fan of how often I had to get one creature, do one thing then die again and repeat but maybe there's a more effective route I didn't do. The art was adorable and the music was perfect for the vibe of the game too! Incredible what you did in 7 days, congrats !

Incredible game!
I didn't find it too hard or easy and discovering "Oh I can do this", "Oh this is the goal" was really enjoyable.
It takes some good design to achieve these kind of feeling in the player!
Btw why isn't there a fullscreen option? (proper fullscreen without browser tabs and such seen)

The wheel spin was incredibly frustrating. I would have enjoyed the game at least twice as much if I could just pick my character. Or even if the random character was picked instantly instead of waiting nearly 4 seconds each time you die.
This fights against the core fun of the game. Exploration by experimentation.
How are you supposed to try out stuff if you need to wait so long each time you die?
I'm sure other people commented on this too...

Really it's still an incredibly polished feeling game for a game jam. 😮
I likely wouldn't mind the wait as much if actually playing the game wasn't so fun.
The game made me feel smart especially hearing other people struggle with the puzzles hahah.

Oh one more little note: The end screen blinded me with brightness but maybe it's just me being a darkmode enjoyer and playing this at midnight. 😂

I had to read the comments to understand the piano mechanics as I always pressed a key, then x, and it just exited - then I've tried playing a sequence and pressing x, but also didn't work. :D

Other than that the base concept was super interesting, loved the different skills (the little toad-thingy that didn't jump super high was the least obvious one though and I think I bugged in two of the ropes by activating them from the wrong angle 😜), and it all came together very nicely. I liked it a lot, well done!

How do people keep making games of this level in a week-long jam. Absolutely incredible experience, it took me awhile to figure out what each animal did but after I did most of it clicked. I haven't been able to figure out one of the puzzles but even then this is an amazing entry to the jam.

Yeah I don't think we're beating those totally not pretentious allegations. That being said very cool game! Very much like animal well except you actually play as the animals and not just some blob. Definitely took me way too long to realize what you're supposed to do with the lil arrow combos you find, but otherwise I think the puzzles were pretty well made! I guess if I had any critiques I'd say maybe make it a little more clear what each animal does, cuz I feel like I ended up finding that out pretty randomly (one of them I thought was just useless for a while until I figured out what it does by chance). Nonetheless, great game Iris! Incredible you did all this by yourself!

The game was really fun, a Metroidvania for a game jam is impressive. I had difficulty because there was a glitched rope and I couldn't identify that there was a rope there, and the commands that appeared took me a while to figure out what to do with them. A musical note symbol would have helped. Apart from that, the game is very well done, congratulations.

This was incredible! I definitely got stuck, but it was the good kind of stuck that made me think about my surroundings. Great job!

I don't think I should try to learn piano . . . seems I'm pretty bad at it! Jokes aside, took me FOREVER to figure out the piano. It said "Press X to play note" but well, I had just figured out pressing X on the piano as the man lets you play the piano, so I didn't really think beyond that. After trying every combination, I was a bit mad and while my spouse was off to the Game Jam discord to look up what we were doing wrong, I was just spamming all the keys and then . . . I heard a note. Little bit of foolery later, I found the missing piece. X is to play the piano, and if you're not playing any keys, is to close the piano. Press X while HOLDING your note, and wow! It works!

Beyond the frustration there, the only other part of the game I feel I could critique is the wheel. Ironic, I know. It's perfect for the game jam and makes total sense, but honestly? As a standalone game I think it'd be a nicer experience to just pick the creature each time, building into that exciting of navigating a new path and going "Oh, I need so & so now!" without the headache of "Shoot, frog third time in a row" and repeated deaths

All of this said, I played the entire thing and it was an absolute blast. There's so much potential to iterate on this concept and expand it further, and I think a standalone game could really thrive. Hope to see more. :)

This game is fantastic. The puzzle elements are top notch!! The platforming elements were unfortunately mildly frustrating at points. Particularly one jump in the top right section, I kept hitting my head as the mole when trying to get across to dig the final wall up top. I also wish there was more indication that you could stop the wheel rather than just accept the random outcome xD I dealt with the randomness for 90% of the game before spam clicking at one point and realizing it let me stop it early. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with this one! Such a cool idea and once I figured out the stopping the wheel thing, all the frustration was gone. I think this one small fix would basically bring this game into perfection territory tbh. Great job!!! <3

The atmosphere and sound effects for this game were amazing. The platforming was a little too tight (If thats the right word ). I really wished there was another way of picking your characters, at times I would want a certain character but  I would end up with the one I didn't want, I was a little frustrating at times but aside from that great game

Edit

I've been informed you can actually select your character if you time pressing Z on the wheel. Knowing that the games puzzle become less frustrating now

I found this out really late, but you actually can stop the wheel by pressing z again!! This definitely should've been explained in-game, but knowing it I feel like brings the game from 9/10 to 10/10 xD
