Oh god, this is very depressing. Very serious. And it’s creative, because it portrays gambling how it really is.
The UI was a bit buggy. The messages appear over the button we have to click.
I also wish that the first bit of story (the text cutscene at the start) hadn’t auto-advanced. I didn’t have time to read it and made me miss out on the story.
And I don’t understand why sometimes the “red” makes me lose and sometimes makes me win.
The story was pretty interesting at first but I realized my choices didn't really matter ? I either just won a bunch of money or lost a bunch of money but my daughter still left me. Maybe that's what you were going for? The House always wins etc? It made me a little disinterested tho :(. The gameplay was a little buggy and the font is a little hard to read for me :c
I think it had a lot of potential but I wasn't really able to engage with the narrative that well. The music and vibe was sad and if I forced myself I could've been more affected by the game but I sadly think something was missing, maybe feeling like what I was doing mattered at all? Or some actual interactions at the end of the day, I'm not sure. I won a LOT very easily so that didn't really help either, sorry (I got like 200+ bucks).
I still think it's a great concept and some people might engage with it better than I did so good job and good luck with any future projects :D
Very serious game and I love the narrative of it! Though I do find the gameplay's a bit on the buggier side with me being able to spam the wheel and I think the wheel might have been reversed (green bad, red good?) which was a bit confusing at the start but I got used to it! Music's pretty simple but effective and the visuals are also simple but good! Overall, the game needs polishing on the implementation but other than that, it was great! Great work!
Many thanks for the feedback! Narrative was my main focus so i am very happy that the players enjoyed it! And yes, i am sorry if the game is a bit buggy, i wanted to submit this game to the jam at any cost, so i didn't think too much about polishing it. And about the music, it wasn't made by me but by a creator on Pixabay, check him out! He makes great stuff! https://pixabay.com/users/leberch-42823964/ . Nevertheless, thanks for the comment and good luck with the jam!
A lot of mood with both the dialogue and the music with it. I enjoyed it to the end. I do wish the dialog was a bit slower or at least some stuff tended to just flash on screen and be replaced by the next line. Other than that. A very solid entry.
I have been writing long, detailed responses to every game I have played. But I'm not going to do it now because I have so little to say.
This game came from a recommendation. Sometimes I need to remember that you don't need much to make someone feel. And when I caught myself trying to win back all the money I lost, I really had a moment.
Thanks mate, this is good.
this game made me cry. there's nothing in this game, just a wheel that spins. no respite from meaningless gambling and money going up and down and up again forever. it feels sort of good to spin the wheel and let the money go up once, then quite bad to spin it and have the money go down, but it just feels REALLY AWFUL to spin it at all after a while. the small messages just add to the despair that this game makes you feel. genuinely, i think this is a piece of art. (all of this is positive btw, it sounds like i hate it but i don't i really really love it)
The atmosphere was great; it really encapsulated a hopelessness that comes with a chronic gambling addiction. The messages at the bottom that encouraged you to keep desperately spinning added greatly to the atmosphere of a very dark game with depressing themes overall. Well done.
i really appreciate the deep and dark theme about gambling addiction and the psychological atmosphere is well delivered the desperate attempts to collect money made me feel hopeless as if i was the one gambling the story hits hard but the gameplay loop feels a bit too simple with just spinning the wheel however it fits the narrative perfectly i actually have some of this dark atmosphere in my own game too overall good effort
That is not what I would expect to play at 11am. If the point was to make plp get depressed then well done!!!
Note aside, the wheel has no indication so I do not know when I win or lose (apart from seeing money go up and down) and other thing is that when I spin the wheel for the first time it spins using full speed but then it moves just a little, so it is kind of an immersion break point for me. Overall: Enjoyed the game!
Wow that was depressing! I guess that was the point so well done.
I don't know if it was on purpose that the wheel gave no indication when you would win or lose. But it made me lose the immersion a little bit because I kept trying to figure out the wheel.
Other than that I liked it.
