[UNPAID] Is any dev still accepting humans to translate their games?

As title says, I really enjoyed translating games [English to Spanish] back in the day but with AI a lot of devs just started using it and now I can't find anyone who needs help with that, someone here needs help with that? Of course I'm not expecting a payment or something so if you're interested let me know! :D

People still need translators, especially for narration-heavy games where engaging text-driven storyline is key. My games do not have much text and I did not consider reaching the Spanish-speaking audience. But I ran an experiment using machine translation of https://programersi.itch.io/imagichess into Spanish. If you could review this and point out mistakes it would be very helpful.

The automatic translation of your game and all other games that uses AI or any similar alternative are "OK", ceirtainly there's a lot of words that could work better depending on the context and situation but it doesn't make it a wrong translation overall.

I think for VN I would still have something to do for any localization or sum but AI for anything that uses "formal" grammar and phrasing is fine.

As an example, I contacted only human translators to localize my game Return From the Tavern. So, yes game developers need translators especially for games that convey some humor.

Yeah I know, but I have been looking from time to time on the recent games tab to help but nope, no luck there tbh :(

The "Help wanted or offered" section of the forums seems to be the best place to find translators. If that interest you, you could check the Spanish translation of my game for errors an inconsistencies.

Honestly I would prefer to work on a translation from scratch as most likely the translation done from another person will be perfect already imo

Do you translate to Spanish (Latin America) or Spanish (Spain)?

How significant are the differences between the 2 variants?

Return From the Tavern only has a Latin America variant.

Can't rely on just AI to actually "get" a game or add that human touch to localization. It's only a tool, but you do need a human to actually do the localization.

Yeah I agree, probably I will still offer my help as a localization from now on instead of translation as ofc AI can't localize some local jokes nor give an actual personality to a character.

I gave up on even trying to offer my help the second I see it's already translated to Spanish or if it have the usual AI translation in 10+ languages...

Hey! I'm interested, reach out on Discord if you're still available: @nini55
