I like the concept! Gramophones are a cool take on spinning! Visuals and Audio are nice. Conducting the toy orchestra is serious enough for me! Good Job!

This has great potential, but it’s a little short. It ends when it starts to get fun. I’ll also echo some of the comments by saying that this game needs more ways to punish the player if they just spam space or spin endlessly. Maybe the little conductor gets dizzy if you spin too fast, or maybe the musicians play the wrong notes if you mess up the timing. Anyway, there’s so much you can do to make this great concept even better.

The art and sound are both really good. The game is a lot of fun, even though it's fairly short. I can definitely see the idea being expanded if you decide to keep developing it. It's a really well thought out concept. Congratulations!

Outstanding artwork and audio! One of the best games I played in this jam!

Funny little game! I wish there was an endless mode as I don't see why there's a maximum score, and I believe there should be a speed limit on the vinyl, as I just held a, and spun at insane speeds and could just spam space,  which also could be solved by penalizing the player for spamming space by lowering their score, or putting them on a cooldown. maybe instead of holding either buttons to spin, the vinyl could always be spinning and you could press either a or d to make it go slower or faster, respectively. The art was cute and the music was very nice! There's a lot that can be done from this, like having multiple characters appearing at once, or having old ones reactivate after a while, as if the toy got cranked and moves again!

Great ideas!! Thank you :)

Very creative idea and concept! I liked how when new instruments showed up you would hear those instruments in the score. I will say the gameplay is a little light in terms of difficulty as I could just hold a or d and spam space, but the music and visuals were good enough for me to enjoy the game anyways. If the gameplay was made more challenging somehow I think this could be a very enjoyable game!

The art work is great and I really like the attention to detail where when you get a specific band member to play their specific instrument gets louder. I mean the game is pretty short and all you do is look around and press space, but a game doesn't need to focus on gameplay to be enjoyable if done right.

Very cute! The artwork is great and I love the color of the little outline when you look at people! Looks very interesting.

Also the music is great ofcourse, did you make that yourse;f or is it an existing song?

I was just surprised a little bit that it ended? I expected an almost endless kinda thing where people just kept spawning endlessly and since I managed to cheese the game a lil (I figures I could just keep rotating in 1 derection and spamclick to be safe forever :p) I was excited to share a screenshot of the whole disk just being completely packed with people! But then it ended X)

Great fun! Good visuals! Great little game, but an endless mode would be even better!

Love the music aspect :)

Really loved the music- the way it builds up with every instrument and loved the cardboard cut-out design of the characters, though would’ve liked to see that art-style extended to the 3D model textures maybe? (the disc, floor and curtains) but that’s maybe a little nit pick. The main issue for me is the spinning makes me feel a bit dizzy, idk if there is some sort of motion blur effect or if its just me, but yeah other than that solid entry!

edit: Oh yeah one more thing! I had to switch browsers as it kept crashing chrome for me for some reason

It was cute. I really like the art style and music but the spinning made it a bit hard to enjoy as I started to get dizzy after a bit. Maybe a lower max speed on the wheel would have helped and made it a bit more exciting at the same time as that would also increase the chance of losing.

Developer

Great idea. We don’t want to cause motion sickness on anyone so we’re thinking about that. Sorry about making you dizzy! And good thought about how that makes it a harder challenge.

It's a very interesting concept for a game.

I like the spinning to see who your orchestra people are and then them moving closer and closer to you like weeping angels when u aren't staring at them.

Also, nice that as u add more orchestra members, more items actually get played.

Potential to be something greater, even if it's not quite there now

Developer

Ha, weeping angels yes! Yes, we’d like to continue developing on it so thanks for the kind words!

Very cute game ! I really liked how the music changes as you progress and the spatial audio while you spin is a great touch :D that said, the game was a little too easy since you could just hold A or D and spam space bar... It's still a very cute concept and universe, I really liked it. I wish there was an incentive to keep going but after 1500 notes I felt nothing was gonna change so I just stopped playing. Very sweet and adorable though, good job !

I really liked the hand drawn aesthetic. I wish the menus also used it. The plain white text looks off next to the professional looking logo.

The description says "Tower Defence" but it's not a tower defence game?
a TD game requires that there's towers you place down and the towers defend.
It's just a defence game. (Nothing wrong with being "just" a defence game but it's a different genre)

Rotating feels good and there's nice momentum. The mix of 2d and 3d is fun!
Sadly the gameplay boils down to just hold direction and spam...
I did also replay it "intended way" without missing any shots and that also felt kind of bland.
I wish more effort was spent on this actual gameplay part to make it engaging.

The spatial sound was nice, maybe the game mechanic could work in a horror setting focusing on this aspect?

I'm sorry if I was too harsh, maybe I was let down since I really love tower defence games and it wasn't one.

Still great job finishing a game with such a fun and unique artstyle! 😁

Developer

You weren’t too harsh! All great feedback!

I suppose it is not a tower defense indeed now that I think about it. We’d need to have towers to defend the conductor tower. I hadn’t thought that bit through, only the bit that I was “defending” the conductor. I’ll fix that.

Do you think this could be fun working as a rythm game? I am not sure how to do that and keep making good use of the spatial and disc-rotating stuff, but I don’t really know how yet.

super cute idea and i love the growing soundtrack! i wasn't really sure what i was supposed to be doing so i was just swiveling around and spam clicking. i agree w bobinsgames that it might be nice to have a finite number of "bullets" that you aim towards each member of the orchestra. really good job!

Submitted(+1)

I think the concept is interesting and the game looks great! I just think it misses any kind of threat, since you can just press space any number of times. Did you ever consider having a crosshair and the player actually had to aim and "shoot" directions at them? I feel like that could potentially be more of a challenge and make it so the player can't just spam all the time since they actually have to aim. It was also a little funny that there was so speedcap on the disc and I almost made myself throw up from going too fast haha. ( I also forgot to add a speedcap in my game which people keep making fun of which is why I was curious to try it here haha).

But yeah, overall, very cute concept, art and music, and also a creative twist on the theme, just needs a bit more difficulty in my opinio!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, we’re thinking of adding a speedcap, or an option where the player can set their own speedcap. We don’t want anyone to get motion sick!

We were considering making this into a rythm game as well, if we get to develop on it to improve it. I will look into what crosshair means and see if that’s an idea we’re into.

PS: Oh hey, it’s you! I just noticed! Yeah, your game is so funny. I thought your lack of speedcap was on purpose!

Submitted

Haha hello! No it wasn't intentional, I never considered people to never let go of the kid haha. And alright! good luck with the future development!

Submitted(+1)

Really sweet idea! I think the camera angle you chose, low and positioned behind the conductor, is quite neat and works well for this game. I was able to just spam to get everyone playing, so I was never under any type of threat. Do the orchestral members eventually need to be re-conducted or do they stay in the playing state forever once you hit them? Could be interesting to balance turning them on/off based on what music you are playing. It was very satisfying hearing the music build as more members joined in playing!

Developer(+1)

Hi! Yeah, they continue playing, at the moment. Your idea about turning them on/off is also interesting. It would be cool to figure out a way to cue the player that it’s time to make players stop. Or even a way to select several musicians and them make them stop all at once (or make them play all at once?)

We tried to keep it simple and develop it further later, but we didn’t have the time to do it before the jam ended. But we’re thinking of continuing to expand on it and make it feel more challenging. Because with challenge comes more fun as well.

Really glad you enjoyed the music buildup and the game!

Hey there, I really like that Paper Mario style you went for (didn't see many going for that) and the music. The acceleration-based spinning felt really smooth and the whole gimmick of "guiding the orchestra" before they overwhelm you was interesting: I could see it having the style of a cool rhythm-based game. Only issue as others pointed out is how easy it is: maybe make the enemies faster each time you press space and don't hit anything? You could even make it so that if the player spins too fast for long enough they get dizzy and their accuracy lowers. In addition to maybe adding that (or other stuff to increase difficulty) it would have been cool to have an endless mode where you can just go grind for better scores but if you want the game to have a "finished" state you don't really need that. Overall a fun and serious entry, good job 👍.

A fun game, but the musicians scared me a little when I saw them coming aha

A game that stands out for its originality
