Loved the visuals! I was quite nervous at first seeing another spungeon but it really showed me an aspect to games dev that I love. We had similar ideas but the execution is so different and it just goes to show the creativity in indie game development!
As for the game itself I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough! It was tough, enjoyable and it really leaned into the randomness. I loved the modifiers and How everything felt while playing. The loot was fun to engage with in terms of exploring what you can get. I would love to see this expanded and would happily follow along!
common yuri W
Very much enjoyed it, good visuals and I love the art! It’s a neat idea gameplay-wise too but the issue is it’s practically entirely up to chance, so it took a few tries of doing the same thing and hoping for luck. I’ll check it out if you update it after voting ends! Gating the yuri cutscene behind a luck-based game is criminal tho <3
I was hyped for the yuri animation but it never came... I defeated the boss and the game kept going? Then I got killed by some of the green things afterwards. Is there a second boss or something I have to beat to get the animation?
I really like your style, very cute pixelart. The spin mechanic makes dealing damage super inconsistent and frustrating at times but my monkey brain keeps telling me to spin the fucking wheel so here we are... 30 minutes into your game spamming single the attack again and again. Tweaking loot tables depending on your level could really help you solve this issue, the first 2 encounters could only give good abilities for example, then back to the normal table. If you want to work a bit more adding a "STOP" option on the wheel to have more control over the result could also help!
I like the idea, very simple and engaging combat system. I can see potential if you decide to keep working on it. This might be a 1 week jam game but with one more week of work you could have a very nice game on your page! Very good job, even more impressive as a solo dev.
Could you perhaps... upload that animation? Now I feel like I'm missing out!
Thanks for the kind words and feedback!
Unfortunately… the yuri is at the second bossfight.
…I’m starting to worry that I was extremely lucky in my runs…
I will 100% fix combat by giving the player more ‘nudges’, and I’ll probably remake the yuri since I feel like my art skills got better after finishing this jam for some reason.
I like the idea of getting random modifiers and then spinning a wheel to decide the action. But I think it would be better to have a skip option for if you want or not want to get a new modifier. This way greedy player could get punished. Or maybe having an option to discard a random modifier every once in a while. Overall; couldn't see the yuri part :( im gonna sue
I really like the gameplay, adding modifiers to the wheel spinning, also, and at some point, I wanted to put my fist through the monitor, missing 5 times in a row. Lovely artwork. Ashame not being able to talk to them though!
Good job emmowo! 🔪
Cool graphics!
Since you are always looking at the wheel, maybe it would be interesting to move it to the center of the screen, at least when you attack.
Cool game! not much feedback outside of what the other comments have said but the main menu and cover art was good enough to get me intrigued and try for a while!
I know gamble games are popular nowdays but I feel like that's taking it a bit too far, you actually have zero agency, there's a single action available and it's just gambling to not stab yourself repeatedly. The fact that the game doesn't take itself seriously remedies it a little and the spinning loot crates gut a chuckle out of me but it overall feels drawn out for something you have no control over.
Other than the whole no agency thing, I wish my actions were displayed in the combat log and it would scroll automatically.
The visuals were nice and moody though, I like the little camera sway in combat
It absolutely is going too far lol, Originally you would have a system to clear out undesirable cards, alongside additional wheels (the big one being for diplomacy), but because of some balance issues, it was something I’d need another day or two to add.
I’m definitely looking forward to making a free ‘definitive’ version once this jam ends.
Adding different moves to the wheel is a cool concept, you should consider making it larger visually for how important it is
A little buggy and no actual options in the fight but I think I can see what you were going for ^^ Good art :)
Since I saw you were asking in a thread, some bugs I encountered:
Clicking the option in Diplomacy at the end didn't do anything and restarting didn't work. Also the dialog at the end stayed up for the fight.
