very ambitious a mecha RTS!!!! very pretty art and interesting universe !!!!! Worth continuing ! I had some trouble on unit selection, I never fully understood how I could select my mechs to make them move?

Developer

Humble Thanks for the positive feedback.

it's best to zoom in (via mouse wheel) to select units via left click. You can keep CTRL pressed to select multiple units. To give move commands right click and to set multiple waypoints keep CTRL pressed. First thing is to collect scrap (by sending the mech over scrap and then sending it back to base). We have a longer guide on the main page of the game, sadly we ran out of time to add the tutorial.

Amazing work with the art and sounds! I couldn't figure out how to do stuff on the map though, I just walked around and found blueprints, but could not collect scrap and did not find any enemies.

Glad you enjoyed at least some aspects of our game!

We had some time management issues unfortunately which resulted in the map gameplay being rushed and underdeveloped, hence the issues with enemies and little indication on how to progress (we made a little guide on the game's itch.io page on how to play to help a little). The enemies seemed to work on the dev build though.

Either way, thanks for the feedback!

I know the pain, last year I overscoped and could not submit, it's part of learning. I will follow the team to check out what you come up with next

The visuals are dope! I think I’m dumb because I did not understand how to play. Other than that, the game seems really well put together and complete, with complex mechanics. Well done! :)

Developer

Thanks for trying our game, glad you enjoyed it for what it is!

It's unfortunate we struggled a bit with time management and couldn't properly explain the mechanics and controls in-game aside from a few pop-ups in the hanger. Barely had a playable build out even with an extended deadline! We have written a few paragraphs of instructions on the game's page, check it out if you haven't!

This was really neat, I love the fallout-esque aesthetic and map view and just the complexity for a jam game is certainly something!

Though i admit the game felt a little too confusing in just understanding the gameplay loop. At first I didn't know that my homebase was my homebase on the map, I assumed it was a scrap indication, and then I was very confused at why my mech disappeared. And then I was further confused by the fact I had to return to base with scrap, but frankly I just misread the description. I also thought the gameplay was a little too slow, until I realized I could hold down the spacebar.

By the way my number one suggestion right now is to list holding down spacebar to speed up the game as a control option on the game page.

The animation for the mech being deployed EVERY time a mech is launched get's really repetitive when I have to do any time I get some scrap, and I can only get 20 scrap per run.

The map exploration felt a little odd, the grid didn't seem quite aligned, and I think the AStar navigation was a little mismatched. Sometimes I could go right through rocks, sometimes I couldn't walk over seemingly clear areas. In fact one time one of my mechs was stuck and couldn't move at all.

And also I didn't see any enemies at any point, maybe that's a bug? here's what my map looked like by the time I gave up.

And as my final piece of constructive feedback, the game map is a little too zoomed out for my tastes, had to lean into the screen to see scrap piles at one point, and I couldn't find any control for zooming in.

But back to the positives, again the vibes are immaculate, and I like the concept of this game. Doing a pseudo RTS in a game jam is no easy feat by any stretch, so good work on that front!

There's a lot to love here and the core is good, but there's some edges I think could be sanded down in the future. Excellent work!

Wow! Thank you so much for playing our game so thoroughly and giving so much constructive feedback. In the dev version the enemies seemed to have been working, but something must have broken once we uploaded our submission.
We will add the spacebar and the zoom controls in the description for sure, that is an excellent idea.

The vibe, the lore, the gameplay... Feels like and old school table top rpg. Cold war aesthetic is a great idea, I felt like digging deeper into the lore. And so many mechs to that! Good job.

Developer(+1)

I m happy that the cold war inspirations came through! Thank you for the kind words

it's broken but you gigachads litteraly coded your own engine on a jam just.. wow.. I'm impressed, the art's great, the music's extremely immersive and it works so well.. you have to improve the ergonomy and stuff cause it's very hard to get how the game works... but the thing you gave's almost sincerely inspiring.

Keep going with that, it's so neat

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The game would really deserve to have a good tutorial, sadly the time was too limited.  But I added a guide on the main page to at least easy the start.

Stellar presentation and setting !

I really like the premise with the whole war that was going for so long that it spanned multiple generations, and the cybernetically augmented “Laikas” animal pilots are a cool concept, and i really digged their designs. Visually i also really like how the mechs are derived from oldschool airplanes, battleships, and various industrial equipment.

The music was pretty cool as well, this nails the post apocalyptic atmosphere of the game.

In a way the retrofuturistic artstyle paired with the map screen really gave me Fallout 1 vibes.

The only sad thing is that once i equipped everything on my mech and deployed to the mapscreen, i couldn’t figure out how to do anything so that’s as far as i was able to go, some tutorial or at least some info about the controls would have been helpful :/

But it looks really interesting non the less :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! being compared to Fallout 1 is really high praise, it was one of our inspiration for this game. I wish we had time for a tutorial, but I agree, the game complexity screams for at least a guide. I've added it now to the game page. I hope that could make your second run more fun :)

Submitted(+2)

Very atmospheric, great presentation, it reminds me a bit of Notrium, if that makes sense. It was difficult to figure out what I was supposed to be doing though.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for your feedback. Playing the game every day made me forget how the complexity of it grew. You are right, without a tutorial it's really hard to see what's going on. I have added a quick guide to the game page to at least cover the basics to have a chance to enjoy it ! Maybe it will lure you to play it a second time :)
