I actually didn't even see the furthest reticle the first couple of times playing, somehow, but seeing it did make the game much easier. I like the upbeat artstyle, and I love the crash-dump game over frame a lot with the ball-pen balls adding insult to injury. It helped with having to see it so many times 🥹 I'm not sure if you modelled everything yourself; really impressive if so. It all fit well together.
I agree that stopping at the boss kind of felt like I was running into a wall; and also that a little hit confirm animation against the boss would help it feel like shots were connecting aside from just the HP bar moving down. Also, I kept trying to grab the heart above the little boat right before the boss, but somehow I kept jumping through the boat, missing the heart and nearly (or fully lol) killing myself. That might have just been me. This is one of the first jam games I played - I meant to comment much earlier and realized I never did. It's memorable - nice job on this submission!
Thanks! I made all the models myself, they're very low poly and firmly within my 'comfort zone' as an artist, so i could bang them out pretty quick. Music and SFX were from asset packs I have linked in the game description.
Really refreshing and visually appealling ! That is a nice little world you have there ! Making the boss flash when it gets hit would help readablity. Also, it doesn't install through the itch io app (for exes, it is much better when you have a lot of entries to test). Looking forward to see more of this pleasant 3d world ! :)
It should work in the app now
AMAZING, had a lot of fun with it, loved that in such a small time frame you fit a boss battle, love all the menus, chuckled when DA LAZER.MP3 showed up, overall a fun expirience
Managed to get a score of 15941 (I think, the font was kinda hard to read lol)
That was fun and challenging taking me about 5 tries to finish. I think the bullets move too slow for the distances you shoot at, especially for the final boss. The triple aiming reticle thing is cool but also kind of confusing. I kept losing track of the main reticule on my ultrawide monitor whenever I was moving the mouse quickly to hit targets on the opposite side of the screen.
It felt like by the time the bullets reached an enemy I was shooting at, the mech had moved so close that if the bullet missed, I was too close to shoot at the enemy again. That’s what I mean by the bullets moving too slowly.
Despite that, the game was enjoyable and kept me engaged for a number attempts until I managed to beat it.
The design of that final boss was awesome, as was the set up of watching it fly in and out of the water all majestically from a distance.
Good job!
Good work! Very original setting for a mech game, enjoyable tropical vibes.
Had so much fun playing this! It reminds me of the end credits laser minigame from super smash bros melee! knocked it out on my second try with an S rank and it felt really good to challenge myself to take out more enemies on the second time around, the controls felt really smooth and the enemies and aesthetic are super cute!! Music and sounds all sounded really good together too and were very vibey with the beachy aesthetic! :) Great work on this!!
Suprisingly hard? I beat it only at 3rd try, got rank S! It has some cool retro vibes, like old wii or arcade games. I like the art.
quiet funny to play, wii sport vibes c: I was just quiet disturbed about cintrols like.. I reached the boss quiet fast but had no idea if i could turn arround or going back.. but then I beat the boss quiet fast
This was super cute. The beachy vibe is awesome w/ the cute mech and anime pilot. Very classic gameplay, reminds me of old shmups, I love that you were able to get some nice enemy diversity. I beat the manta ray boss on my 3rd try, got rank A!
Not a ton of notes! Music wasn't super exciting, leading shots to hit far away targets (like the boss) was kinda difficult and it was hard to tell if I was landing my shots. The way you just stop and slide left/right at the boss was a little awkward but it all worked. The mech looks very cool, I find the colors and look of your game pretty appealing. Very impressive for a solo dev! great job
Its challenging but fun. it was hard to tell if I was hitting the boss.
I forrgot to include the pck file with version1 (cocuscore1.exe), the new one (cocuscore2.exe) includes it. Very sorry, sleep deprived.
