This concept is easy to follow along with and straightforward overall, I think it would be a good idea to really solidify and dive deeper with the message and theme. Excited to see what you come up with!
I like how straightforward the concept is, and I think the message about recycling and cleaning up the environment is easy for players to understand. I also like the idea of collecting different types of trash for points, and I think the retro 2D style could make it really fun and approachable. For Sprint 2, I'd focus on making the movement and collecting trash feel really satisfying since that's what players will be doing most of the time. It'd also be cool to add a few obstacles or different level mechanics so each level feels a little different while still keeping the game simple.
The concept is simple and functional enough to be achievable within the jam's timeframe. The project's impact is there but lacks a specific, actionable takeaway, like "raising awareness in young people" is a good instinct, but the game does not yet point players toward a concrete action or fact to walk away with. However, looking forward to seeing the final product.
I think this game will be easy to pick up by the general audience, but I do think it needs more connection to the theme and to deliver a stronger message of environmental change beyond a single action netting the player points. The simple gameplay mechanics can allow for ample space to inform the player and expand upon environmental topics, like climate change, environmental restoration, and littering.
Overall, the proposed gameplay loop and theme are extremely weak. I would like to mostly harp on the fact that the theme of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" isn't even described properly in the document. This group will succeed after more research is done and stronger, more coherent ideas are put to paper.
While the use of A.I isn't forbidden in development stages, the cover art (and potentially some of the writing in the design document) clearly uses A.I and there are no disclaimers to be found. Once again, this group will go further if they enforce and craft ideas on their own. I understand that group communication has been difficult but I wouldn't let that stop you or push you to resorting to A.I for such an environmentalist project.
