How many people in the team?
1

Who were the people? What did they do?
Only me, created the full game arena, and fighting system; hand coded. Used AI to create 3D objects used in game.

What is the game demo about?
Zen Quest is a fast paced slash-and-gash game, focused on the themes of leveling up by insane efforts and daily struggles, all while a certain 'Council' is trying to prevent that.

Will the full game be released soon? When?
Yes, the full game release is planned, but somewhere in the mid of 2027. The full game will be entirely hand-made, and the features will be vastly expanded, as stated in the end of the demo.

Nice game! And beautiful music, like other's have mentioned. Easily my favorite part of this game.

I'm not really used to playing games of this genre, so forgive me for my lack of constructive feedback. The game overall reminded me of Fate, an old dungeon crawler, especially with the use of large rooms with enemies, upgrades, and bosses, all of which are well implemented in this demo.

As for improvements, like others have mentioned, I think the game could benefit greatly with character animations, especially as the game's thumbnail shows.  The bosses also look interesting, especially the one shown in the thumbnail and the tree-boss seen in game. What other bosses are planned, if I may ask?

Overall, very solid foundation. Best of luck with development!

Thanks for playing and feedback! Since you asked, the full game has a total of 10 bosses planned: tree, sand, rock, lava, hell, void for the main canon, and four secret bosses, including bolt (the sky boss) so prepare for the frenzy!

Wow, this game really surprised me! All the systems work really well. I really liked the upgrade system, the Ancient Tree boss, and the secret room that appears where you can upgrade between cycles.

I think the only things I missed were maybe a few more animations and environments that make it easier to identify where you are entering in the level, like the dojo and other areas.

Also, the SFX for the Ancient Tree's bomb attack is much louder than the rest of the game's sounds, so it could be balanced a little.

Great background music! Overall, really nice work.

Thanks for playing and feedback! Glad you enjoyed the experience. I'll definitely be upgrading the animations, SFX and VFX once the game is past the jam. Glad you liked the background music as well.

Solid gameplay, great music, a "missing sword," and even a secret boss fight. I'd give it a 9/10—I would have given it a 9.5 if it had more animations.

Developer

🤩 thx! i'll definitely be adding more animations in the final build!
