This was so much fun! The combat was neat once I got the hang of it! The town was so lovely and the detail put into the characters was super charming. Great job!!! I'll be returning to defeat the wizard at some point, made it to level four this play through! woohoo!
Ahh! Thank you for playing and for the kind words! I do hope the town makes the game easier when needed, I know you can beat the wizard!!
How you managed to code this much in just 1 week is beyond me. I know I would be stuck at the "menu" page with nothing loaded.
Can't wait to get through all 10 levels and fight the boss, managed to make it through a few levels but kept dying because my keyboard skills aren't as sharp as they used to be. Time to drink a Redbull and win!
Play is great and levels with the all the monsters mixed in remind me of early NES games. Item drops and hungry being an extra layer of challenge is a neat idea to add in to keep the player moving.
Love that my default name is Lucas, LOL
CRUSHING IT!
Holy SMOKES this game is AMAZING! I can't believe you did all of this in just 1 WEEK! Absolutely incredible! The choice in music, the art style, the gameplay, just all of it is 10/10! There was a bit of a learning curve, but once I got through the first couple levels I was feeling pretty confident in how to play—like for example on the 1st floor I ate too much food early on and barely had enough to get to the 2nd floor. And on the 2nd floor I broke open the pots but didn't eat the food, but didn't realize the items expired over time. Then by the 3rd floor I was starting to get a hang of the different monster fighting styles, but then ended up dying. Which I thought would result in me just starting from floor 1—BUT NO! THERE WAS A WHOLE TOWN TO EXPLORE!
Honestly, the more I think about the game, the more impressed I am. You really cooked with this one! Well done! 🙌💜
WOW! Thanks for the kind words! :'0 Yessss, this is the kind of experience I was hoping players would have: to learn by trial haha. And especially the town! I wanted that to be a pleasant surprise for ppl.
You're rad. Thank you so much for playing and sharing your thoughts!
Really well done *chef's kiss*
Check the stream!!
Had such a blast watching this!! 10/10 voice overs. Thanks for playing!
It’s a nice concept. I found the combat a bit awkward at times though. I could be literally right on top of a monster (and taking damage) but miss because I happened to be facing the wrong direction, and with only 4-dir combat but free movement, there might not even be a right direction.
Also didn’t like that the key binding UI randomly doesn’t let me choose keys like Ctrl or Alt or Shift for no discernible reason. I wanted to use those for sword, bow, and jump, but it wouldn’t let me.
Thanks for playing! I'm sorry about the key-binding issue. I could not replicate the issue tho: Ctrl, alt, and shift worked for me on both desktop and browser version. But the browser version was finicky because the Alt key was being used by my browser.
Either way, thanks for giving the game a shot and letting me know!
Hmm, that’s interesting. Maybe the browser was interfering somehow, then. If I try playing again I suppose I’ll use the desktop version and see if keybinding works as you say. It’d probably be a little bit easier with less awkward controls than the ones I settled on (putting attack and movement in the same hand was definitely a mistake).
Oh if you’re using WASD, I think WASD + L and R mouse buttons works great as well for sword + bow.
I’m just so partial to default RM arrow keys.
No, I put both movement and attacks on the numpad. Should’ve put attacks on the other side. I typically choose either mouse or keyboard, not both. (Does this game actually work with mouse only? I didn’t even try it.)
Absolutely amazing! the old zelda vibes are immaculate, and the gameplay was excellently handled. Love it :)
Thank you!! :'0
this is peak
Too good. Illegal. No notes.
Tysm!!
Ooh, real time battle system, which plugin did you use?
yesss, the game uses DotMovementSystem for pixel movement (it's free MZ DLC) and Action Combat plugin for hitboxes etc.
Fun combat and great art. Loved it.
Oh boy, I can't wait to bomb some dodongos!
I really liked this, a perfect zelda-like roguelike.
my game is actually a wand of gamelon clone
also TY TY!
Game was a lot of fun! Nailed the classic Zelda vibes, excellent entry holy crap. One minor bug I noticed is you can still swing sword and shoot arrows while in dialogue though. 10/10 would hop again.
thank you! :'D never stop hoppin
This is amazing! I'm a huge sucker for retro stuff, and everything felt just right. The music, art, gameplay, and characters were done very well. It was hard to remember that this was made in RPG Maker. Major kudos and great work!
TYSM! I just love the GBC era of gaming. Appreciate the kind words!
At first I didn't think it was made in Rpg Maker, graphics are cute, good job!
Combat is very smooth. I would have never guessed this was made in rpgmaker.
Honestly tysm, I spent half the jam tweaking the combat / player movement haha
Never seen a rpgmaker game like this so it was really cool
This one is so good, not gonna lie... the combat mechanic is superb
