It's my favourite game) It has all the great things: beautiful music (love that acoustic to electric guitar transition), meaty sfx (especially muffled dashes), super smooth movement (YEAH), visuals and art.. There are lots of things to praise, really, so I'll move to others that didn't let the game be perfect or didn't click with me personally: slide-to-walk speed threshold sometimes wouldn't let me do Vs or circles (though ground movement is just so much better than in something like Daemon X Machina IMO. I love it), not being able to fly upwards without breaking aim and machinegun having Helldivers/WarThunder-like double crosshair + projectile particles (deadly combo IMO with ultra fast movement) and camera freeze on melee impact. Apart from that, it's

12/10

Amazing!

Control is responsive and the various type of movement feels good to perform.

The missile effect is amazing in how the trail curved, and the lock on system helps a lot for the gun and sword.

Music & SFX are great, I especially like the music that plays once the mission started.

Art is very good as well, both the 3D and 2D character art looks amazing.

Not sure if this is intended, but I can seem to go out of the city bounds and fight the enemy without being obstructed by buildings, but the fps drops significantly during that time.

This is insane

This is ABSOLUTELY INSANE!! I'm too impressed to even give words. I might have to ask you guys to make a full game demo! This is AWESOME!

ITS MAD IMPRESSIVE WHAT YOU DID HERE, movement is seamless and responsive as hell, attacking enemies and locking them on is also nice, game play is fun, my only complaint is that my PC cant handle a lot of enemies so i can recreate the tf2 heavy meet the medic scene lolz

Then mechanics of the player is wonderful. I can see the inspiration from the Gundam and AC series. You really nail the movement and combat mechanics with a fabulous art style!! This would be worthy of a paid game given more polish and development .

The good:
-movement and combat

-2D/3D art
-music/sfx
-atmosphere is exciting and fun
-Tutorial is fantastic, there was no point in the game where I was confused on how to play

The critique:
-I see what you are doing with eh freeze melee attack, but without noticeable sound effect and reaction of enemy, it doesn't look as exciting.
-I've lost most missions  (either due to lack of time or overwhelmed), but somehow stumbled onto the final fight. I felt their should be some sort of mechanical barrier that would require me to get the final mission.
-enemy missiles are quite tough to dodge.
-enemy spawn under the level

Good job guys!!!

This was amazing! I have to up front thank you for having submitted an Unreal Engine game that gives me the options to NOT cook my PC.

The art and visuals are all beautiful and seem perfectly on theme from my vague knowledge of mech anime and Gundam. And while the music at default volume is a little overpowering, frankly I thought it was intentional and kinda fit the brand lol.

Having a tutorial section was also a very nice addition, something I find usually gets axed for jam games due to time restrictions (including my own game).

The movement and combat all felt very smooth, the only issue I encountered was some enemies spawning under the map, but with the lock on I was able to destroy them through objects. So I think it's a jank issue, but not something blocking progress or frustrating.

I do wonder if I just sucked at the game though because I never got enough money for more than 2 upgrades, so while I'm impressed at the scope of options available, I never really used them.

Overall this was incredibly well done and was very fun to play, great work!

I really like the visuals with the wave system, it really works, there's a great feeling with bunch of sound effect you used (especially for the dash). The explosions you did are quiet satisfying too.

The only thing that put me out of it (but I guess that's just a matter of taste) it's music, was too loud compared to other sound effect and I lowered it.. but I guess it fit with the artistic direction, something Gundam-like (I never touched Gundam).

Great job!

Thank you for playing, and I very much appreciate the audio feedback! You are 100% right on the music -- unfortunately, that was the price I paid for implementing at the last-minute; hooking up to the in-game settings menu controls for some reason made the SFX bus super quiet -- setting Music to under 30% is closer to where I intended the balance. Nothing can be done about it now, until after the jam period... but I'm glad you took to the settings to fix it! 🥲

Thanks again for playing!

Incredible Tps action !

This is quite impressive for a jam game, i have no idea how you guys managed to make such a large open world map with multiple missions and all these gameplay mechanics in just 2 weeks O_o

The Artstyle and music are phenomenal as well i gotta say !

The game also has tons of feedback these explosions are so satisfying, you even had the classic “anime rays” before the actual explosions it’s so good :p

The only issue i had is that the most of the mission feel incredibly hard, plus the time limit on top, that felt like a bit too much :(

Other than that it was a pure blast to play, great work you all did there ^^

Developer

Thank you very much! Patrik's VFX work was definitely really good - both he and chaos-1001 were on fire for the whole 2 weeks, especially as we were initially going to be 4 people but lost one due to schedule - they adapted amazingly and were able to split the work in order to make the submission possible. As far as how the map got made, the building placement was procedural - chaos-1001 made a small collection of buildings that the engine uses to populate around the streets, with a little "type" mapping for where certain things should or shouldn't be able to spawn. That saved a huge amount of time.

The missions I agree take longer to complete than expected. We were initially going to have some more mission diversity by building mission templates, but the workload was already pretty heavy, so we stuck with a lot of drone-spawning templates which also saved some time there. If we do any updates beyond some tidying up post-jam, the missions overall might be something that gets worked on, meaning balance, length, diversity etc., which would also add some depth to the economy element, too. Thanks again for the comment, very glad you played our game!

2 weaaks is quite a short deadline so the praise is fully deserved for what you all managed to make, especially now knowing some of the difficulties you guys encountered ^^

Oh i see, so it’s a multimesh kinda deal i suppose ? That’s still quite an impressive map though.

Personally it’s not the missions themselves that i had an issue with more that the time limit felt reaaaaly tight O_o but yeah i can imagine it’s hard to balance during a jam so no worries it’s only a matter of a few tweaks :)

Insanely impressive! The locomotion is excellent and truly anime-mech-like, the visual style is superbly polished for a jam game, the particles beams and explosions in particular are gorgeous.  My favorite has gotta be the trails on the missiles.  The 3D and 2D art across the project is really awesome, those are some great character designs.

my only feedback would be pretty minor stuff-- the city could use some greenery, skybox is a bit bland, missions don't really tell you where to go afaik (I just fly up high till I can see the objective).  I also had a bugged mission where I cleared 5/9 waves, it even said 0 enemies remaining, but no more would spawn.  Also for me personally the camera tilt when you move side-to-side is too much, motion-sickness territory. But these are all minor nitpicks on what is an excellently executed project, very impressive for a team of 3.

Awesome work! I especially liked the VFX, real juicy. Only issue for me was the camera slanting (horizon line tilting) got a bit dizzy.

Just... wow. For the first two minutes I just sat in the menu admiring the art and music. The game feel, the entire city, you got everything right. Even the story elements! I got the vibe of early 2000 mecha anime.

Developer

What a wonderful comment, thank you! A lot of time and love was spent on the music and art, so it makes us super happy it made such an impact!

Developer

Thank you tremendously! Really appreciated reading your comment.

Wow that was incredible! This is definitely one of the best jam games I’ve ever played. The character controller feels extremely polished and well thought out.

The only issue I found with the game was the balance around the combat and mission structure. The combat felt too easy because of the flimsy enemies who do very little damage, but the missions also felt too difficult because of how little time you have to complete them.

Despite that I still had a lot of fun killing enemies because of the great gameplay feel and the special effects. I wasn’t able to find grandpas magazine though

Thank You!
And yeah we planned on having a couple more "Mob" variants and even proper enemy Mechs which would be the "meat" of the encounters, so you would alternate between trash enemy  to dispatch fast (getting easier with upgrades) and more substantial fights or different challenges... in the end we only had time for the "potatoes" without killing our coder (that also did the amazing effects)
Happy You had fun!

Ok guys, this game is CRAZY good! The game was really fun, the movement and thruster sounds cracked me up! Story and characters feel like they came straight out of a classic Mecha anime. I totally would enjoy a full version of the game!

Developer

Thank you so much! The team is super glad you had such a good time with it!

This is a great start for a full game!

A complete package!!!!!!! This is near to the perfect mecha game every fan wants to make one day ^^ Constructive criticism; it would be great to be able to save the progress, as you play day after day after day?

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it! And you are totally right, a save system is definitely in the top for things to be implemented for a post jam update!
