This does beg the question of why dwarves are such a popular choice. Is it because they're a very familiar character archetype so devs don't need to waste time explaining the characters to the player? Is there something about dwarves that make them easier to build a game around? Do players just like playing stocky bearded men with oversized weapons?

Either way, this is the type of discussion I like seeing in these forums ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)✧

i'd say it's because it's easier and cheaper to make games on dwarves, you can just use simple overused design and do the same thing everyone else is doing without having to think too much about it. Also since dwarf fans are extremely loud they give the impression tons of people want games on dwarves but as we can see with most games on dwarves failing this is not the case at all. I think the dwarf fatigue took too long arrive but better late than never. It's going to be weird in the years to come seeing everyone making games on dwarves that nobody will buy, the situation right now already looks like people hitting their heads against a wall. But for me making a game on dwarf is a sign of going the easy way instead of trying something fresh and daring.
