Love the sound effects and the way the blocks swooosh!
Thank you!
Love the idea!
I like it, it feels pretty smooth and I like the soun effect of pushing the block. I also didn't really find myself using the special blocks since the normal ones were already very effective. I wish there was more levels or harder difficulty!
Hey thanks! I put a bit too much effort into making it feel good and forgot to design some levels.
Very nice and addicting game. Very cool game! The mechanics are simple yet extremely satisfying (did not know I could die because of the fire rune. LOL. Also double kill with a single rock is sooo satisfying). Lacking some background music and maybe a tougher enemy, but overall a very solid game. Looking forward to any updated after the jam ends. Keep at it!
Thanks for playing! My enemy is the same enemy I made to get get collision checking working, which is just to pick a random a random direction out of 4 at every move step so it's very basic. I had an idea to have the enemy be able to push blocks too that could be cool.
My idea for the update so far was to create a few levels showing the player each mechanic and maybe do some different shaped levels. I'd also like to do a procedural map endless mode. I wasn't sure how to balance the normal blocks i could make them move one space or just be breakable and add a wind rune that does the current default blocks continuous slide. And a few other ideas for spell blocks. Hopefully a bit more variety and a change of mechanics will make it more fun!
Good game idea, wish there was more than 1 level tho
Thanks for playing!
Neat game! The core puzzle mechanics are solid and the game has a very nice art style. I think there should be a delay before you start moving when you push the fire block because I ran into it a couple times, or maybe just don't spawn a flame there at all. I also found myself only using the normal blocks because the rune ones weren't necessary and less convenient to get to.
I'd like to see more levels rather than just a single looping one! I would have played longer if that was the case.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I plan on designing a few levels (to gradually introduce mechanics) and adding/changing the block spells.
I think I could even add puzzle elements to the game if the core loop ends up being a lot more fun.
Well done game! And pushing only the rocks to crush the slimes seems to be the most effective method.
Thank you! You're right, there's too much friction on to use the spells compared to using the regular blocks. I'll have to rethink that aspect of the game.
Well done on this game. Feels and looks polished besides a few quirks (like what people have mentioned with the fire rune). You're very close to have a solid game. P.S. You should finish this one after the jam!
Thank you for the feedback! I plan on finishing it with a few levels and trying out the rest of my ideas I had to cut. I think it can be a fun little arcade game if I get it right.
I might be stupid because I didn't know that you could push the normal blocks and died like 3 times trying to get past the first wave lol. I do think(like others have said) the fire block is a little bit of a double edged sword but I think with the implementation of some other "hex" spells and more balancing this could be a really great game. Really enjoyed the art style too.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree with you the levels and the rune spells could be a lot better. I need to get some level design practice in.
I like the idea, having rune tiles and a mage to kill enemies in a dungeon is fun. Sadly I think the way the fire rune is implemented makes it more harmuful to use it than not to use it! I think the biggest issue is that pushing rocks is more effective than anything else and we only have 4 runes of two types total. that said, I totally see potential of this being a fun game if a couple designed levels are done and maybe a tweak on the runes powers. Also the sound design is good and the aesthetic is great.
100% agree with you that it's lacking on the rune design and level design. I haven't made content/levels for a game of my own before., I want to continue developing for an extra few days and create some better levels and add a couple more rune ideas I had to leave out.
Got score 2600 and then died by my own fire rune. Killing slimes with blocks is way easier to be honest
