So... I want to play as many games as I can!

Share your game with me! I'd love to play what you made!

Aaand if you want (only if you want) tell me a bit about the story behind your game, and how your experience was like as a creator :)

What inspired the idea for your game?

What did you enjoy the most? (coding, art, music, whatever!)

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome during the jam?

...

And since I'm asking... I'll share a little! (≧∇≦)ノ

https://slimeedadev.itch.io/the-little-guys-the-great-cave

My idea was inspired by the concept of "leader", someone who guides, and take care of a group. And I created the character years ago and liked it a lot, so this jam was the perfect oportunity to bring it to life

What I enjoyed most was creating the sound system and the soundscape. I wanted the audio to be an important part of the experience, especially for those playing with headphones.

My biggest challenge was resisting the urge to keep polishing the game. Haha, I’m EXTREMELY perfectionist, and I kept finding little details I wanted to improve.

Now I want to check out and play your game!

This is my game: Divide and Conquer by TheHappyBread

This was my first game jam and I joined a week late. Though the first thing that came to mind was having clones of yourself to help steal valuable items. I wanted to allow the player to divide themselves to unlock special abilities. obviously I enjoyed coding the most because thats what im best at. The biggest challenge was doubting myself and worrying that the game mechanics would be hard to understand.

Submitted

I liked your game, the idea is very creative. And don't worry, the mechanics are really easy to use and understand :)

Thank you!

While making this game, I spent way too much time making art myself instead of using asset packs, and kinda ran out of time. But overall, I'm still pretty happy with the result.

The art of your game is really good and the level is fun, my favorite character was the dragon

Thanks :)

so, it was very late at night when I saw the game jam video and wanted to start at that very moment, so I spent the entire night designing the gameplay and story. Originally, it was going to be a village simulator, then a fighting game, then a Tomodachi Island like game. Basically, I made millions of versions of the same game until I finally managed to get the main game.

And since I have a PC with only 4GB of RAM, I had to upload the game using my brother's laptop. I had to transfer the files to my phone and then to his laptop six different times because I kept discovering new bugs and it's driving me quite insane.

Wow. Making a game in just one night! that's impressive! Your game is extremely frenetic and the theme is fire! I love it!

The theme is absurd, but the game is incredibly fun. the voice acting just makes it even better!

do u mean the name??

Submitted

Yes and the comic story is cool

Submitted (1 edit)

one final question : Is the name or anything in the game braking any jam rule ??

Submitted

I don't think so, the blood is minimal and there's not much inappropriate content; if you aren't sure, you can ask Brainless

You can in the discord server

I made 2 games! I joined the jam a week late but still managed this!

https://caprock64draws.itch.io/sno-money

With S'no money I wanted to make a kind of game I had never made before, a game of spending money to make more money. I'm really proud of myself for the opening cutscene of my game and the story it tells, and I hope everyone else can get something out of this game too!

https://caprock64draws.itch.io/hollow-the-ghost

After I made S'no Money, I wanted to make a game-boy style game, I made a test of the gameboy thing later in that day after I had Finished my first submission and originally I just was going to leave this project for after the jam, but the more I worked on it, the more I though "Wait what if I submitted a 2nd game to the jam?" and so I worked on it the next day from when I finished the 1st submission and ended up submitting it! The Chests in the game were originally going to be the goal, but then I realized I hadn't incorporated the theme much, so, now the goal is to find the children of the main character!

I'm so happy how much I did in like the 3-4 days where I made stuff for this jam!

Submitted

I also only discovered this Jam a week into it!

Submitted(+1)

The work of many of you really amazes me! It's crazy that you managed to create two such good games in such a short time! And I LOVE cutscenes in games, yours is incredible

Submitted(+1)

This is mine: /jam/brainless-game-jam/rate/4782600

I took a horror approach on the theme. The thought was, that getting swarmed by a group of little guys could be scary. So I build of of that :D. I can't really say, that I enjoyed one part of the process more than the other. The whole thing was fun to build altogether :D. I always try to make the player feel immersed in the game, so every action they take should trigger some kind of reaction. I think that was probably the hardest part to get right.

Submitted(+1)

Didn't expect a horror game in this jam but It seems that a lot of effort went into this game. It’s genuinely scary! The art is great and the atmosphere is incredible You did an amazing job!

Try Umiushi!
/jam/brainless-game-jam/rate/4779814

My wife has always been fascinated by these lil' guys and when the theme came up, I knew!
My collaborator wanted to make something more board-gamey so we landed on a cozy set collection game!

Submitted

The game's aesthetic is incredible. I like game works. I still need to master it, but it's fun.

Submitted

Thanks!!! Let me know if you can score 30+!!!!

for now my best score is 11, i'll try again

My game: /jam/brainless-game-jam/rate/4772762

The game idea went through a couple changes mid-way through. The original idea was that you'd play as the little guy and clone yourself by collecting beans, however the cloning was taking me too long to implement. It was inspired by Snake (The browser game) with a similar loop. My final idea however, wasn't really inspired by anything and was just from trying to figure out how I could fit the "Little Guys" theme with the code I have while having a new game idea.

I enjoyed seeing parts of my game work properly from my code and come to life. It was nice feeling that I created something

My biggest challenge was making the clones of the player get hit and collect stuff, it was such a hurdle that I decided to just destroy the clones entirely

Submitted

It still feels a bit like Snake And I like the grayscale aesthetic. The music is very good. The characters look adorable and silly at the same time. :3

I also had to cut some mechanics due to technical difficulties.

This game really made me feel like a hotel receptionist! The art is very cute, and the ui is well designed. I love that the computer works just like a real one! You had a very original idea based on the theme.

A challenging yet highly original platformer. The slime is cute, and the mechanics are good.

here's my entry : /jam/brainless-game-jam/rate/4776004

As soon as i read the theme, my idea has been to create a game where the player is just a very tiny creature in a home, then i began to remember what games i played when i was a kid on the SNES with a similar theme, and those games were Toy Story and Tom & Jerry.

Submitting the game before the deadline, that's what I enjoyed the most... since it was my first attempt at creating one, and i basically never touched Godot or other game engines before this game jam...

The biggest challenge was debugging things... especially the "boss" that i decided to add to make the game a little more interesting/challenging (or it would have been just go from point A to point B)...
I lost 5 hours of time trying debugging and changing parts of code... and that was for nothing... when i found the solution i felt so stupid and i wanted to cry, because for just 2 CLICKS I just literally lost 5 hours of time... i forgot to set the collision layers and masks of the boss  (literally click 2 squares)...
but i guess that's what happens when you're a beginner and you're not used to do something new.

Submitted

A very good game. The cat is adorable. The music is good, too.

And yes... many times collisions layers and masks in Godot are a headache! 🥲

My submission: /jam/brainless-game-jam/rate/4745240

What inspired the idea for your game?

Warcraft Rumble! I remembered it because you play with miniatures and thought hey the gameplay isn't too complex, so let's try to recreate it

What did you enjoy the most? (coding, art, music, whatever!)

My favorite part is always picking/making music, editing SFX and adding visual polish

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome during the jam?

Creating 3d models that looked somewhat okay-ish with the very little skill I have in modeling

Submitted (1 edit)

The game is short but cool. I like the low-poly style of the models. And the music really fits the theme and setting of the game. I'm bad at 3d modeling (I've never tried to make a 3d game)

Hi, this is my game. I found this second idea while brainstorming (the first one was bad trust me). I cant type enough, going to update the game after 3-4 days because im on a vacation.

Submitted

Wow, the art is incredible. It reminds me of Paint. The cat just look adorable. Also, the mechanic of building blocks (or cats, in this case) for getting fish is cool

Submitted(+1)

Thanks! I drew those in scratch and turned them into bitmap :) I became happy because you loved my game!

My game is called Ant-Vasion! by champie

I was inspired by a Planet Earth documentary about ants.

I enjoyed coding it a lot!

The biggest challenge was - of course - SCOPE.

Submitted

The concept is really original. Zombie-ants. It could even be a movie! Obviously, the scope always aims for bigger things. Glad you didn't end in scope creep.
