Bee(st) game

Very simple, but fun idea. The bees are cute, and the game is a very solid prototype.
My only suggestion is that sound effects and some background music would add a lot. Great job!

Thanks :P

Hey TemNam i saw you and your game in Bytesized games stream, your game is very cute congratulations ;)

to start off with what i like, i think the bees are cute. i think that theres a very solid framework for the game, like the core systems and the idea for the gameplay loop is there. i also think the idea and execution was quite creative. i think if this idea was fleshed out you could probably make quite a decent game!

onto my feedback, and i hope this all doesnt come off wrong and i apologize if it does. i mean this all in good faith :)

i like the visuals and artstyle, but i feel like the worldbuilding is just a little too bland in my opinion. its supposed to be low down on the ground it seems but there could be more stuff like potentially like weeds as obstacles (adds to gameplay too) and more grass in the background.

the gameplay loop is a good framework but i feel like there needs to be more meaning to upgrading. for instance you could maybe implement a day system where each day enemies get more difficult. currently its really easy.

the stage never really changes, which is accurate to how flowers are but its not good from a game perspective imo.

sound effects could be added for stuff like pollen, flying, attacking, killing etc

i think that seeing your money in the upgrade menu could improve player quality

a teleport home button may be good, if not that then add more risk to being out at night (i think this could help a lot with the game since you already have a day night system). i kind of just went to all flowers every round and got all the pollen and it was annoying getting back since there was no threat.

i think this has a lot of potential! i played for around 10 minutes and i enjoyed it :)

Very fun, I think I played it for way too long. ♥

very cute game, i didn't play it for a lot of time cuz it started to feel kind of repetitive, but i had fun!

very cute game, would've been more enjoyable if it had audio but still enjoyable!

I think what you released is pretty solid, it has nice visuals, and a cool theme. Bees are just cool. I think the gameplay loop is fine, how you turn pollen into honey to get upgrades. Some things I'd like to see are;

- The flowers change visually if you have pollenated them (i sometimes forgot if i had)

- The game to be a bit harder (these red wasps are just not much of a threat at the moment)

- And a more obvious use for money (i couldnt find a use for it; i think the upgrades at the start of the day are free so there's nothing to spend money on sadly)

- Some audio, like at least some bee buzzing sounds but a music track could go hard

I think it's worth going back to because it's super cute and has potential!

Thanks for the suggestions! I definitely am coming back to this game.

Good proof of concept. I like the bees :3
I would add music or sfx to hammer in the atmosphere of the game. Well done!

Developer

yeah, i didnt have enough time to do that, but i definitely will when i come back to this game :

I really enjoyed the gameplay BUT the lack of content makes it boring very fast

Developer(+1)

Yeah, i know. 2 weeks really isnt too much time. im probably going to come back to this at some point tho

Really cute art and really nice concept. Plus the bee is really cute. I wish the interact/ dans were E or Q because C and X was quite unatural for me.

Developer

yeah, i didnt really have enough time to get playtests that would point that out. but thanks for playing!

This game was fun! controls were a bit strange at first ill admit but the art, idea, gameplay and such are nice, think music would really help this game out, and honestly js enjoyable game to play!

Hello my fellow virtual bee maker :)

I agree with loading dev that the concept is good and has a lot of potential! The art is cute and simple, I especially like the cartoonish clouds and the main menu look. As for gameplay, three points of feedback I have are:

1) if you're going to have a WASD game, C to interact and X to dash aren't really intuitive or simple. A better control scheme would be E to interact and Q or Shift to dash

2) design wise, I like the idea of an incremental bee pollinator game but I think you need to add a concrete incentive for WHY you want to progress. As it stands, there's no real obstacle that requires upgrades. There's no difficulty scaling nor anything that would push me to getting upgrades. I can get as much pollen as I please without the upgrades and frankly there doesn't seem to be an incentive for getting more vs less since I can only purchase one upgrade a day

3) we can probably change the level layout a bit, like maybe instead of that whole scene with going into the hive, converting pollen to honey, and going to bed, we can just have bee hide in hive, and do all that stuff, maybe zoom out the camera. whatever doesn't keep us away from the main gameplay loop of collecting pollen

Keep on buzzing :D

thanks! of course, this is a prototype, so nothing about it is gonna bee perfect, so thanks for all these suggestions!
