This game is super fun and cute! I love the artstyle and the entire concept of the game (:

Giant koi-pocalypse is certainly a great premise!! Great work y'all! This is a pretty awesome little arcade game. Makes me think a bit of the flea juggle from Silksong (which I'm aware takes influence from other games but this is the only one that came to mind rn)

Submitted(+3)

Love the art, played smooth, and I really dig the intro arcade machine!

great concept! well made, keep up the good work!!

Submitted(+3)

Loved the concept, well made! Congrats.

Fun game! Took a bit of time to get used to the controls and how to hit the fish but after a while it was better!

Submitted(+3)

I need to know how you guys came up with this idea :D

Very fun game!

Developer

There a story. Roburad wanted fish, I wanted baseball. He put koi, I put LA Dodgers, and thus our game was born. As we kept adding and adding, features, movements, animations, we were what is called, The Flow. Then at the end, I added a scoreboard, to represent a true retro game, you noticed we has 23 seconds left for submission, well WE WANTED A NEW FEATURE IN PLACE, THE DUST CLOUDS YOU SEE THAT WAS THE LAST MINUTE FEATURES, AND THAT TOOK ME 20 MINUTES. We submitted, there were bugs, there were errors, but we finished the game.

Very noice concept and very fun game to play!

There's a lot to love about this game. I particularly enjoy the presentation as an arcade game with audio/sound design that is better than most entries I've seen so far. Super nice and simple game that I'm looking forward to returning to. Damn dem fishes

Developer(+1)

The sound guy here- Thank you so much! Everything you hear was recorded and designed using real hardware rather than digital emulation. I used a Roland SC-55 for the music and a Behringer SY-1 for all the sound effects. Additionally, none of the SFX were processed once recording so the sounds you hear are all raw /live sound design performances rather than being altered or edited in a post-edit!

Submitted

thanks for sharing your process. sounds really interesting, especially the part about using the raw stuff. makes it even more impressive since you have to make it sound good from the getgo

Ok, I don't know much about Baseball.. but there are flying fish... I have a bat... I know what to do! What a fun, addicting game! *SLAM* Captures the old school weird game designs I know from childhood! Well done! And a freaking leaderboard... wooaah... this is great! :)

Hi. The game is awesome, but the HP is really low. You'll get used to the controls and the fish over time, but it's tough at first; I barely managed to get above 220. The loading screen in the beginning and main menu are especially cool XD

Developer(+1)

Yup, we based the HP based on the 3 lives common retro style games. 220 Is pretty good, some people have gone to 1k, but mostly because a bug I forgot to fix lol.

Submitted(+4)

The game is really hard, but so fun.

Submitted(+2)

What a random concept, I liked the player and island retro artstyle, Simple gameplay but still abit of nuance with the way the fishes react when getting hit.

Submitted(+3)

Nice animations!

This is just the kind of game you would expect to find in an arcade, the inclusion of a scoreboard did very well here! As hexadecimalwtf said just below, it IS a simple idea executed very well. The kind of game you can't tell why it's so fun, but it is. Good job!

Simple idea executed very well. I only got 510 points so I wasn't as good as everyone else it seems. I really like your menu screen with the arcade cabinet.

Submitted(+3)

This was super fun! The swing was super well animated and I liked the ball game music. Amazing art too, incredible entry.

Submitted(+3)

Wow. This is straight gas. I am in love with this incredibly silly concept. fantastic execution. Not to mention inclusion of a scoreboard. I haven't gotten to that part of my development journey so I don't know if that's impressive but it seems impressive and I for one am impressed.

Developer(+3)

FEAR NOT YOUNG ONE, BUT I SHALL TEACH YOU. For the Scoreboard, I have been a fan of them since my first game development class, where I did a vampire survivor game, I added a scoreboard, and i felt like this type of arcade game also needed it. So How exactly does this scoareboard work?

I used something called Talo. A free database to store user information. Really easy to set up too. All i did was grab my API key which allows me to access their database where I created 2 tables, a player and a high_score. When the player clicks enter on the enter name scene, I call the api to input the user, and the score, where i grab it via a global script so its accessible towards other scenes. Godot has support on it on their asset library, so when creating a project, you can add that addon. Im not sure if i can send links here but read their documentation and the creator also has videos!

Submitted(+1)

Lol, thanks for the info! I will definitely have to bookmark this addon it seems super handy.  And again congratulations on the game it is quite fantastic.

This is very good information to know! I was thinking of implementing a scoreboard for Track '86 but didn't know if I'd have time or there would be any ability to do it.

Fun game and I love the koi art! Really feels like I am playing an old arcade game. Great game all around.
