I think that the core of the game is there, which is great! I love the artstyle and that you guys decided to keep the game simple. During my time playing the game, I had a hard time figuring out how to get out of the house and was unable to. I thought that I could use the crowbar to get out the boarded window but that wasn't the case and I was then even more lost. I still do love the narrative and concept overall!
I had a lot of fun playing the prototype! It felt really smooth, and the visuals are honestly one of the strongest parts of the game so far. Everything already looks really polished, which made it enjoyable to play.
The main thing I'm still curious about is the page burn mechanic. Since it wasn't included in the prototype, it's hard to tell how it'll affect the overall gameplay, but I think your scope is manageable and you'll have enough time to playtest and fine tune it before the final version.
The artwork is splendid, as for the paper animation.
Overall, the UI/UX is very smooth and allows the player to enter easily in your world. A small change in the mouse cursor could be helpful to understand where to click sometimes.
Good job for your work ! Looking forward to play more :)
The gameplay was beautiful! I love the backgrounds and music. As other people have said, the text was a bit hard to read with each word being broken up. Otherwise, fantastic!
Thanks for the kind words and feedback!! Yes, the text was an issue we were working to fix. We have released a new version that has hopefully fixed the issue. :)
Ok, amazing one. Great music, great aesthetics. I hope to see some challanges in this game, but definitelly great one to follow. Hope you can finish it. +1 to hard -reading of the text, I love the concpet, but I thought it is me selecting words for full sentence to be stitched (also maybe an idea :D )
Prototype was smooth to play and also absolutely gorgeous so far. Still a little nervous about the main page burn mechanic since the prototype didn't feature it but I think with your scope the playtesting needed will be done. In Addition to that, I found the character dialogue text to be a bit hard to read at times with how disjointed it was. Outside of those two things this was an extremely solid prototype and I'm really looking forward to the next build!
Thanks so much for your comment! Haha, yes the dialogue is definitely something we noticed and are working to have fixed within the next few hours. I appreciate the review :)
The gameplay loop is straightforward: explore, encounter an obstacle, discover a solution, and use that solution. This is a standard formula for point-and-click games. However, "The Last Seed" introduces the "Page Burning System," which slowly sections off portions of the screen as the player moves, adding a time pressure element to the exploration. This mechanic is a clever way to integrate the game's theme of complacency into the gameplay.
The exploration and interactions build a strong emotional journey, and the art style really stands out — beautifully crafted visuals that make the last seed even more impactful.
All the best!!!
