Top notch beat-them-up fish.
I like the drips and the background already
Looking forward to more polish of the game. Like make the man fail over and some extra punchiness.

I had fun playing the game wish there were more levels though!! The graphics are awesome, spamming heavy attacks and walking felt super OP!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Fish :) I had fun, what a lovely weird idea :) Very nice graphics!
That traitorous shrimp! Loved seeing the fish get so massive, definitely comically large and I enjoyed it. Strong attack ftw
So fun and great art! I felt very betrayed by shrimp I thought it was your companion in the first level
This is fantastic and happy to see a side scrolling beat em up. I used to play this games all the time and it really brought the nostalgia. Super funny idea with the fish in shoes, I love it.
fish with boots... I don't know why, but I surely know that I have to kick stuff :) This has really retro vibes. Well done! Had fun playing this game!
shoddy puns? count me in! this is a great looking game but a bit tough to get into. I feel like a bit more breathing room in the beginning would have benefitted the game a bit. I love the art direction and music though and the big shoes on the fish look hilarious
I couldn't make it past the mantis shrimp, but damn, this has got to be the most stylish game I've yet to play this jam. Nicely done! Double plus good.
Very fun, I really liked that I could send the shrimp's projectiles back at him.
wow a fish with shoes! i like this. i was shocked by the shrimp behavior though.
This is just my personal experience, but I found it quite difficult to get close to enemies to hit them. Most of the time I was either getting hit by them or struggling to combine attacking and dodging. The strong attack was especially difficult for me to use because it took time to charge, and I couldn't really find enough opportunities even with normal attacks. I was wondering if this might be an animation-related issue? The beginning of the swing animation and the strike itself? I'm not sure about the technical side of things, though
But I have to say, the drops from enemies gave me a second wind, when I saw the healing item and some other thing (not sure what it was).
It's definitely harder at first (maybe a bit too much) while the fish is still quite small. We made it so the fishermen's punch animation can be interrupted by any hit and has a faster startup, while the fishing rod attack is slower and uninterruptible to stop players from just standing in front of them and spamming the light attack, which would otherwise interrupt every attack before it even starts.
Are there any specific improvements you would suggest?
Oh the art and animations are amazingly polished! Makes me want to get better at pixel art lol, anyway i had fun playing! I do enjoy beat'em ups and thought that the strong attack was pretty satisfying here. Also think the concept is fun and leaves me curious about what the deal with the fish and shoes are haha
No worries, I almost exclusively played the Teenage mutant ninja turtles ones, it was done in Aseprite.
For bigger things like the intro drawings I work on paper first, scan it and draw on top of that layer with a tablet. For smaller sprites and animations I use to work directly on the app with the mouse.
I'm 100% doing more different types of games in the future, but for now, if you like tower deffense games I have another game playable on browser called "Toddler defense".
I started doing pixel art comics and recently jumped into games too, and comments like yours make me so happy. If there's any other question I can answer let me know 👾
