hehe that was a fun experience. It was a bit distracting going through some furniture and building, I could go off the map by a path next to the cave entrance. But the story and the combat are very entertaining. I liked the mechanic of the mp3 player were you replicate the last attack.

Diagonal movement in a top-down RPG always feels a little strange to me 😄

Still, making a game like this during a jam is a huge amount of work, Great job!

Nice little RPG that has an ending. I wont be able to do that in a week. Love the game boy colors and also battle music. But I do hope the overworld also has some music. It is too bland. And hopefully I have arrow controls.

do hope the ocean is animated and a traditional turn base battle that switch scene ?

Developer

Hi, glad you enjoyed the game! We decided last moment to add music, at the very least for the battles (I was only part of the jam for the last 2 days), else we would have definitely added overworld music.

I enjoyed the story and fighting the technology of old. Is it possible to lose a battle? In the final fight I took 25 damage, then it kept getting lower and lower as I was about to lose. I am wondering if you programmed it so players couldn't mess up, if so that is a nice touch.

Developer

Thank you for playing! It is possible to lose… we designed the battles so that if the player made a mistake or two, i.e. not making the optimum choice for dealing damage, then the enemy would win. We wanted to give them a bit of room for error but also not make things too easy :)

I like the concept and the visuals are great, reminds me of some gameboy games. There is a lot of potential here, and overall I did enjoy playing it, but there are some issues. Mainly the lack of a background music outside of battles and maybe the Y-sorting being buggy? Because the player can go behind/above some things he definetly shouldn't. Leaving the building where the Fax is I appeared below the stairs. It isn't something game breaking but it's still an issue. I really like the story being short and still letting you explore before telling you where to go though

Good aesthetic and theme!

Really fun and retro themed game, was a huge fan of the aesthetic (I love the limited palette and the font!). My two pieces of feedback would be (1) some more backing music would be fantastic and (2) The game behaves a bit strangely when I press shift while combat is happening.

Fun and beautiful project though!

The dialogue was so fun! And the matching songs for the devices. Great idea : D

That landline phone should have hit me a lot harder for dialing 6-7, I'm just saying.
