Hi! I’m looking for one 2D production artist to collaborate on One More Window,
a compact narrative-strategy game being developed in Godot.
ABOUT THE GAME
One More Window takes place inside one old apartment building during a severe
winter blackout.
The player has only three emergency power relays. Moving them between circuits
changes:
• warmth
• safe movement through the building
• household tools
• communication
• the opportunities residents have to help one another
Residents are not controlled like units. The player creates short windows of
opportunity, and the residents respond according to their own needs and
abilities.
The intended final game is deliberately small:
• one apartment building
• a small recurring cast
• approximately 1–2 hours of gameplay
• a few authored scenarios
• Windows release
• target release around December 2026
VISUAL DIRECTION
The game is shown through one readable side-view apartment-building board.
The intended style is:
• stylized non-pixel 2D artwork
• grounded human silhouettes
• simplified shapes that remain readable at gameplay distance
• subtle cut-paper and hand-painted texture
• cold desaturated blue-grey unpowered spaces
• restrained warm amber powered rooms
• separate room, resident and lighting layers
• a small number of reusable poses and animations
It should not look like:
• pixel art
• anime
• photorealism
• a detailed dollhouse
• generic mobile-game art
• fantasy, cyberpunk or horror artwork
WHAT I NEED
I am not asking somebody to produce the entire game immediately.
I would first like to select someone through their existing portfolio and begin
with one small, real production package:
• one apartment room
• one resident
• 2–3 readable poses
• powered and blackout lighting states
• separated layers suitable for implementation in Godot
This would not be a speculative custom audition. It would be the first actual
asset package for the game, with the scope agreed before work begins.
If the collaboration works well for both sides, the likely wider work would
include:
• six main spaces
• approximately five residents
• reusable poses and simple cutout animations
• important room props
• relay and circuit interface assets
• lighting variations
• a small amount of promotional artwork
ARRANGEMENT
There is currently no upfront art budget.
The selected artist would:
• receive prominent credits
• retain the right to showcase the work in their portfolio
• be credited in relevant promotional material
• agree on game-usage rights in writing
I understand that unpaid or revenue share collaboration is not suitable for
everyone. I am trying to keep the scope honest and begin with a small milestone
rather than promising a huge project.
WHO WOULD FIT
You may be a good fit if you:
• enjoy atmospheric narrative games
• can create non-pixel 2D environments or character art
• care about readability and lighting
• communicate reliably
• prefer a small project with a defined release target
• are interested in building game-production experience
HOW TO RESPOND
Please reply here or message me with:
• your portfolio(if having one)
• which parts you prefer: environments, characters, animation or UI
• your approximate availability
• whether you are comfortable with the visual direction
• whether a volunteer/revenue-share collaboration is suitable for you
You do not need to create new artwork to apply.
