What a cool vibe! Having to remember your enemies' attacks is a really cool and interesting concept. The atmosphere and lore is also quite captivating !!
I loved the art and the limited palette. We took inspiration from the old dungeon crawlers as well, but didn't get to implement movement in the way you all did. It works great and really adds to the story/atmosphere, so well done!
.Just like everyone else, I thought the combat mechanic was pretty neat. I could see it eventually feeling monotonous, so glad to hear you're cooking up some variety for it!
Great artstyle, love the dungeon crawler vibes. The combat system is really fun for as much of it that you engage with, and there seems to be quite a lot of lore behind this that I probably didn't quite grasp all the way.
Really awesome take on the theme, amazing job on the illustrations too, they look great especially with the limited palette. I liked the memorizing the enemy move set mechanic as well, I think it would be a really interesting idea to expand on (with different abilities, attacks etc).
I have two points of feedback:
First I would say, for me, there was a bit too much text in each of the dialog popups. I get that you're going for story and atmosphere, but breaking up the text into smaller chunks and letting the illustrations 'speak' a little bit more I think would help with the mystique that you're trying to invoke.
Second, a hover tooltip system for the combat controls would have been nice. Just to have them show up in the bottom right console window would have helped a lot with the control intuition.
But overall very cool aesthetic and solid entry, good work!
Thank you so much for such a detailed comment! Yes, the palette was quite the challenge haha, especially since none of us had a lot of experience with pixel art. The memorizing mechanic will be expanded on. apart from adding more enemies, we'll also most likely change it so that the pattern changes once it finishes, and add some more fun stuff to make it more diverse.
Regarding the feedback, we were aware of how dense the text was and we plan to break it up better after the jam, you're totally right to point it out. As for the tooltip system, that's a great idea! We'll implement that along with mapping the controls to the keyboard, so there's a more comfortable way to play.
Thanks again for your feedback! We'll keep working on the game after the jam, since there's so much we had to leave out. If there's anything else you'd like to see added, feel free to let us know, as we're looking to take in as much feedback as possible.
Yeah I feel that pain of having to leave stuff out, at the end of these jams I always wish I had like 1 more day to teak and add stuff, but I guess that's part of the challenge. Glad to hear you'll keep working on it!
I liked the idea behind the combat mechanic, but the game does not make use of it very much (maybe you could have added the same ennemies with randomized patterns multiple times ?)
Some little problems I had with the game were the window for the web build that does not match the game's ratio (so it looks a bit weird), and the text when facing an enemy goes by too quickly
A fullscreen mode could have been nice as well
Thank you for commenting! Yes, currently there's a list of six patterns (mostly due to time constraints). The plan is to make it so that at the end of each pattern it changes to another, and so on, while also adding different ways to interact with it. As for the window size, it was exported without the resize option enabled, so when setting it to full screen it just kind of floats to the corner lol, that will 100% be corrected later. Regarding the text, yes, I fully agree with you, we also need to find a way of shifting the player's attention towards the text box, since right now you can also just not realize it's there, so we'll definitely be looking into that.
Thank you for your feedback! We'll continue working on the game after the jam. If there is anything else you'd like to see added, please let us know ๐
Nice work! The art, music, and gameplay were great. I'd love to be able to move around with WASD and maybe attack and defend could be Space and Shift or something so you don't need the mouse as much. Overall, great job!
Thank you! We're really happy with how it turned out. As for the controls, that's a great suggestion! We'll be mapping the controls to the keyboard, so there's a more comfortable option to play with. We'll keep working on the game after the jam, if there's anything else you'd like to see added, we're happy to read it ๐
Nice but confusing controls.
Fun game the controls were a bit confusing and the resolution was a bit off I had to play it on the top left corner I dont know if thats just me but the sound fit really well and the artwork is really cool
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the controls feel a bit weird at some points, we'll be fixing that so that the controls match the backgrounds presented. And regarding the resolution, the game was exported without resize enabled, so it does that when going fullscreen or playing in mobile, we'll add fullscreen after the jam. Thanks for the feedback! If there's anything else you'd like to see added please let us know ๐
Fun game, the controls were a bit confusing at first. i liked the memorization aspect.
Love the art. The prose is great!
Thank you! ๐
nice dungeon game, little short, great concept of battle mechanics where you need to memorize those circles pattern
Thank you for the feedback! We'll keep updating the game after the jam.
