The title screen has a lot of charm. Wendy drawn in a red hat with a revolver, two silhouetted enemies (a huge brown one and a skinny blue one with red eyes) in front of a purple stone building, warm desert colours and a western font. Very cohesive. The in-game HUD is clean too, three hearts, an empty item slot outlined in blue, a reload bar, and big SCORE and TIME in bright blue at the top. The desert with stone fences, barrels, cacti and a cow skull has consistent art direction.
Real credit for being honest in the description, flagging up front that the build was rushed and that the high score and lives don't reset without reloading the page. I'd take that over discovering it myself any day.
The obvious priority: the START GAME button doesn't respond to clicks. I tried single, double, on the text and around it. It only worked when I pressed Space/Enter. Since the screen doesn't say "press space", anyone who only clicks will assume it's frozen. That one fix probably rescues a lot of votes.
The bug you flagged (score and lives not resetting) stings most in a high score game specifically, because the second run starts dirty. And the timer, which starts around 51 and drops fast, is running while you're still working out the map. I walked a fair bit and finished with SCORE 0 because I couldn't find an enemy near the spawn, and the map is big and empty at the edges with no indication of where to go.
Thank you for giving this game a shot. Yes this is quite rushed due to the original vision to be a bigger game than what is presented now. The rush comes after the fact building a game that game won't make the entry on time. ><
This is why the game feels kind of broken. The one mentioned I was supposed to get to but forgotten completely after the deadline. x)
I'll look into improving this after the review state. Your critique is helpful pointing out bigger flaws here. ^u^
I really liked the game's atmosphere and overall presentation. Well done! 👏
My friend and I came up with Western/spooky vibe together. Not sure if that's anything new but it's here! :D
Nice game!
Good art, has potential!
They think this has potential but I see it as a stepping stone to something better so I suppose that counts! Thank you for checking out this game! :)
Nice idea and great art! I like it!
Thank you Lozadaa~ :)
Nice! Beautiful art
Thank you lots! :D
Cool game love the music and sound effects.
Thank you! :)
A GDevelop Bullet Hell game!? Feels vaguely familiar...
Lots of fun, but it lags super heavily on my PC once I get to the second area.
Ooof. Didn't see that coming then! Will have to readjust the numbers. I had a high-end rig which is why. Thank you for playing tho! :D
Really fun, but I got trapped in one of the areas. I got everyone but the path didn't open up and I ran out of time.
Oh dear, well that I supposed should be looked at. Thank you for checking out my game! It was rush towards the deadline. ^^;
fun game
Great game, I really like the art style and the bombs are pretty fun to use
Glad to see you participate again this year! This was hard! I never made it past the third area, but I'll definitely be back to Chase that High Score. The choice of sounds and music fits the game well, and the art is lovely. The charged bullet might be a little bit overpowered, but considering you can't shoot your regular ones while charging I think it's fine. I think I would have liked to see a grazing mechanic to pump those numbers up even more!
That's a great game, I liked the art and the Gameplay, that's so funny
Yeeehaw !! goddamit le'me piou piou and boom boom those outlaws !
I had a great time, that's the kind of game I would be making if I knew how to draw !
Thanks for the game ! :p
It's busy work lol! Happy that you love it dude!! Art is my favorite process and it's more fun when you make it yourself!
An interesting game, nice graphics, simple but addictive gameplay, good sounds. Overall, not a bad job. I hope the game gets more updates in the future!
Thanks a bunch! It's rough around the edges that's for sure. This does give me ideas tho!
Hey, pretty nice! I like the progression by walking around, and the fancy assets used.
Thankies! I enjoyed drawing assets the most and my friend aided with character animations. :)
Love it! <3 Wendy kinda reminds me of this cutie from Cowboy Beebop! Nice work! Well put together! Maybe some heal orbs in crates too but other than than very solid game!
You could say Cowboy Beepbop is one of several inspirations! Before this, I've thought of a more fantasy-esque until the announcement. I quickly came up with a western shoot-em-up instead. Also, I've been digging Sunset Riders as the main inspiration. Thank you soooo much! :D
On my first run, this game gave me that rare urge to say "Come get some, you fuckers!" when I got to the second area with the big buff men. Pretty solid primary gameplay loop, actually.
Heck yeah! Happy you enjoyed the experience! It gets tough at times but it's good to know! <3
Cute art style, was fun! I like how you give a pause before the next level to calm down and gather resources. I quickly figured out the controls, though a small explanation in the description of the game in the future would be helpful.
Thank you thank you! I also thought it would help to ease players learning new mechanics as they advance. I could've been more descriptive for sure. I just trust in the game to tell it all. :P
Fun game, I liked the art style
Thank you lots! Me and Len made a fiiiine team!
