looks like the early mk games  the animations looks great  . great game

This is awesome! Controls are a little wonky, sometimes I'd have a card chosen and clicking on my dudes wouldn't do anything, had to unselect and try again.

The animations are great, reminded me of old mortal kombat games. It def feels like those chess exercises, where the board is set a certain way and you have to figure out the correct sequence of moves. Overall a cool entry. Well done!

Developer

Exactly that was the idea I had..the classic game from the newspapers where you have a certain position and has to finish it! glad to hear you like it!

I was trying to select the person first, and then the action. Didn’t realise it was reverse!

Interesting game!

I've always wanted to make a grid-based strategy game myself. So I'm very interested in seeing other attempts. I wish I understood how to play. The controls are not really clear. And I didn't understand who I was supposed to attack.

Developer

It is true that it is not too intuitive, I will improve that in other versions of the game. In short, once you select a card, then you need to click on the grid where the character that you want to perform that action is from that point on you will see what other grid cells you can click to finish the action...thanks for having a go!

Really cool puzzle game, and I especially like the character stacking combo system. It was very satisfying to figure out how to get all my characters in place and then unleash a combo attack. I did run into a minor bug during the boss fight, if you hit the restart level button the boss disappears, so you have to reload from the main menu instead. A nice proof of concept though, and seems like there could be some interesting ways to expand on it

hello mike! thanks for the feedback! yes, I am going to fix the problem with the boss asap. Glad to hear that you like it!

I really liked Into the Breach so I was pretty glad to see a strategy game like this in the jam !

The game is nice, but it appears to be quite buggy - I couldn't select any characters after picking a card at first
The boss disappears when resetting the last level as well

I think explaining combined attacks in the description could be a lot of help too (I hard a hard time figuring out how they worked) but it's a pretty neat idea I think

If you're willing to polish the game a bit after the jam, being able to select new cards by simply clicking on it instead of pressing "undo" would be pretty nice, especially for testing movement and attack targets

Developer

thank you for the feedback...it is much appreciated! I have already fixed the problem with the boss, I will ask the organizers whether I can re-upload the game...that bug is pretty annoying! and it is true, it is kind of cumbersome having to click on the undo button for unselecting a card instead of directly click on another card...I would definitely implement that mechanic in another build of the game. thanks for playing!

Nice Job!

The game looks cool. I too was a bit confused about how to play, and I found the text extremely difficult to read.

I think there is quite some potential in this game idea.

What about highlighting the potential target fields when hovering over a player? Would make it a bit easier to see the possible moves.

Congratulations on your submission!

Cool concept. It’s good to see some strategy/puzzle games. The text is very hard to read due to the CRT filter. Could use some more easing in to the concept with easier puzzles.

I like what you're going for here. It reminds me of Into the Breach which is a fantastic game. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to figure out how to move or attack. Maybe you could add some instructions/controls to the description of the game? If you do, let me know, because I'd love to give this game a try.

Yes, you are totally right! that was exactly the game I was playing when the Jam started! Thanks for the feedback,  I have not thought about explaining the main game mechanics with the cards and it is true that it is not that straightforward. I have added a brief description in the itch game page and some screenshots with hints for clearing some levels. Hope this helps!

Very nice, thanks for doing that! Glad I got to give your game another try, and enjoyed it much more this time around. Updated my rating to reflect!

Ive tried playing the game, but it was quite difficult, Im used to these types of games too since Fire Emblem, but im not sure how to activate my character.

Developer

Sorry, I was kind of focus on finishing the mechanics that left a side explaining the mechanics. I have added some info in the game description page and some screenshots with hints, hope this helps, and thank you for trying the game!
