How does your game fit the theme?
You have a limited number of torches that can't be refilled. The pressure builds as your remaining inventory counts steadily down.

Very cool! Its unusual to see a horror game in a game jam, but I liked it! In my opinion there should be a way to pick up torches or something like that, or else the game just totally depends on whether or not the player is close to the exit at the beggning or chooses the right path, which is also random since there isn’t any way the player knows if he is getting close to the exit. I really liked the speceial effects such as the lights and the fire, and I also liked the fact that the ghosts/monsters were 2D. The controls felt polished and the sound effects were pretty good. Good game overall! Congratulations
That's a good point about not knowing how close you are to the exit. I didn't think much about that because I knew the algorithm always spawns the exit on the opposite wall in the randomly generated levels, but I can see how it would be frustrating to just wander aimlessly.
We intentionally didn't allow picking up torches to better fit with the theme of counting down, never up, but I could definitely be convinced it should be added. Thanks very much for the feedback.
That ghost is so cute!
Thanks! My kids were excited to get to contribute to the artwork.
This was terrifying. We liked the dark setting, but game was pretty laggy overall. :)
Yes, the downloaded game plays way smoother, but I didn't want to require people to download it in order to give it a try.
I have to say, watching the resources I thought were safe slowly disappear was genuinely nerve-racking. The atmosphere is so well done—it really scared me! Such a great idea!!
I was confuse at the beginning, but as I pick up how the game works it's super enjoyable to manage resources and to escape from the maze. Great Job!
Horror usually isn't my thing, I'm very weak at handling spooky games... so even with the simpler visuals it still gave me a fright. But that's a good thing for a horror game lol
I will say though, at times it gets quite laggy. I was playing on the web version so that might be the culprit.
Yeah, the downloadable version performs way smoother, but I know a lot of people don't want to download the games, so I figured I would provide both options.
Fun and spooky take on the theme! Enjoyed each level and managed to escape the maze.
Awesome! Thanks for playing.
Was a bit laggy, but a fun idea - well done :D
Sweet little game, when I understood I could burn the ghosts they no longer stood a chance against human folly... I had fun!
Awesome! Thanks for playing all the way through.
I could't open the game on browser maybe its firefox's fault nvm, Ilike the sound effects and slow gameplay feels like old school horror games. very liked it
Thanks for sticking with it and giving the download a chance!
The web version was quite laggy for me, which made it harder to enjoy. Aside from that, the game has a really interesting atmosphere. Horror games usually aren't my thing, but this one has a unique vibe that kept me playing.
Nice one! It was spooky!
The web version is a bit rough tho / my mouse went out the window and i could not turn entirely after that ahahah
About the thene, we've got a similar interpreation, using resources as your countdown so... good one! ;)
I encountered annoing bug in web veb version: if you flick your mouse even slightly camera does 180 degrees turn, making game super frustrating to play. Otherwise the game is quite spooky, i admire the procedurally generated levels and your take on theme.
Hmm. If I had to guess, that bug could be related to latency in the web player. In any case, thanks for pointing that out and thanks for playing!
Cool vibes and the gameplay is fun. I like how there is also a resource management aspect to the game
The game definitely runs a little rough in the browser, but I appreciate having that around. I think it vibes pretty well with the horror theme, especially that the user can’t run. One thing I noticed was that after the torch was thrown I could sort of guides the ghosts over the torch and they would catch fire.
Yeah, setting torch traps is a viable strategy. This was my first time trying to deploy a 3D game to the browser, so I was curious to see how well it would perform. The downloadable exe definitely plays smoother.
At first I was dissapointed to not hear music... but it was perfect! I wasn't prepared to be that scared haha
Unique use of the theme too.
As someone who does not like scary stuff, I can confirm that I never actually finished because as soon as I ran out of torches I left. Great vibes, love how you used the theme, great game!
LOL, I'm actually not a big fan of horror games myself, but I thought it might be fun to try being on the other side of it. Trying to craft a scary experience is kind of fun.
Glad I played it in the day :) the sound effects were nice, and I think it is better without music, it feels dark and like it is deep in a cave
Thanks, I had a lot of fun making the sound effects. I had more music in the game at first, then took most of it out for the reasons you said.
lowkey scary
Thanks, my kid and I wanted to try making a lite horror game, but I even jump scared myself a little bit testing in the middle of the night.
Using torches as the weapon was very cool! Having to choose between seeing or killing an enemy made me play a lot more defensively than I usually would. Very cool concept!
