Great game. Well done the models are great and the car also. Lovely game :)
The name is an honest joke and the game delivers exactly that. Technically this is one of the most impressive things in the jam.
The menu is beautiful. Low poly 3D mountains and forest with the camera drifting, and a frosted glass panel over it with Drive / Garage / Hi-Scores / Options and "Your first run awaits." That looks like a store game, not a jam entry. Having Garage and Hi-Scores as separate sections already tells you the scope.
The in-game HUD is complete and readable: Score, Distance, Best, an FPS counter, an analogue speedometer with gear and km/h on the left, and a circular radar showing the curve of the road ahead on the right. And the contextual tutorial is the best part. A key appears at the top of the screen with the action for that exact moment, first "W - Accelerate", then the instant I picked up speed it switched by itself to "A D - Turn left / right". It teaches you at precisely the right time. Along with The Score Must Survive, that's the best onboarding I've seen here. Putting the objective on screen ("Outrun The Enforcer: go the distance") means there's no doubt about what to do either.
Two things. The car carries a lot of inertia and the road has tight corners, so at 304m I went off onto the grass and the car simply stopped at 0 km/h, with no clear way back onto the road and no indication of whether I had lost. An "off road" warning or an auto respawn would fix that. And the playable area only uses the middle band of the screen with a lot of black above and below.
One honest note on the end of life question, since this jam is specifically about that: "if I see a spike of interest I'll eventually share the source" is more of a maybe than a plan. Given how technically solid this is, a straightforward commitment (downloadable builds, or source archived somewhere) would be worth writing down.
Great selection of assets and aesthetics! I liked how everything was voxel, pixely or low-poly, it reminded me a lot of Horizon Chase Turbo, a game I loved to play. The car was a bit difficult to control, especially during mid-air, I forcefully have to press SPACE otherwise I would have flip over like if the car weighted almost nothing xd Nice game.
Fun game.
But the screen is little, otherwise I like it!
Thanks for checking it out and leaving feedback! I had some issues with performance for all out full screen but you can zoom in the page itself (CTRL+Mouse scroll) if you want it bigger when in fullscreen mode. Enjoy!
This game tries to be serious about the driving, but it feels like something out of GTA—running everyone over and having the car explode.
Very nice game!
This game is REALLY fun. The amount of detail put into this is also extremely impressive for something that only took a week to make. Do you plan on making a Windows/Linux release?
Thanks! No plans for a binary this was always made to be browser playable. But if I end up getting on steam then 100% I will and it will run even smoother!
Very neat, might see myself coming back to this one later.
This game was a ton of fun, it felt like a mix between a road racer and rocket league! Great job!
This is excellent for my money .. I really enjoyed the chiptune/muzax .. the driving felt excellent .. would love to see this fleshed out into a full game
