Hey that's great, simple controller, simple design, very enjoyable.
The UI needs some work to improve clarity (am I adding a spell or removing one, sometimes my attacks don't reset properly on death, sometimes the enemy sprites hide their attacks) but you've got a great concept going good job !!
I love the idea! The biggest issue was that I had no idea what the different options did so I was just switching things randomly! Very cool concept tho
thank you so much! If me and my friend did decide to make this into a legit game that would definitely be one of our first priorities, we just ran out of time (my friend had actually added all of the new abilities just a little bit before exporting the build so even I don’t know what some of the stuff does lmao)
Ok man, listen out this prototype proves a point you have great understanding of gameplay design. I am giving it very high score ;) It is great that its all just arrows, the premise is super good as well! the only things i had issue with was swapping skills i was not sure if visdible skill is what i want to take or remove.
no way, thank you so much dude! That was one of my major problems with our final build too, and if we developed it further this would definitely be our first priority.
Hello! It's really cool that you made a working game and managed to fit the jam theme into it so naturally.
As with any project, there's always room to grow, and I think focusing on game feel would take your work to the next level. Right now, the game lacks a bit of juice - it needs more visual and audio feedback so that every action on screen feels impactful and satisfying. It's easy to overlook these details as insignificant, but in my opinion, they are just as important as the core mechanics.
Good luck with your future projects! Can't wait to see your growth as a developer!
no I totally agree, I had really wanted more sound effects and visual polish (I don’t think anyone even knows what purify does lol) but we had run out of time. Thank you so much for the kind words!
Love the music and art! The game itself is a bit confusing just cause I don't know what each skill actually does? But I like the idea and experimented around a bit
I don't know what most of the skills do either, I didn't get a chance to playtest the build my friend uploaded before submitting lol
Not bad! The foundation is pretty well made, but I am not to sure what the story of the game is, even if the art portrays an idea I wish it were a little more there. I also wish the actions were also explained instead of just dropping four unknown actions on the users. As an example what does deflect do in your game as in other games it may deflect incoming damage or it may reflect back to the enemies, it changes from game to game. Also wish there was a way to skip swapping once you have a build you liked, also when you die it seems to keep the same build instead of restarting you from the beginning. Hope to see more of your works in the future :)
I really wanted to get more of that in the game too, but we ran out of time unfortunately… as for the story, there is LITERALLY nothing there lmao, I just told my artist “ok we need this pose and this pose and this pose” and she decided to make it pirate themed. Thank you so much for the kind words, I was really disappointed with how it turned out but you just made my day! (By the way, Deflect is just a defend that doesn’t last as long. It makes it so if you’re skilled enough, you can block an attack without needing to commit to a long block time- my friend added a bunch of the other actions so I’m not entirely sure what they do lol)
