How does your game fit the theme?
There is a countdown ticking away -- rescue Dracula before the sun rises. Also "the Count is Down" somewhere near the castle....

Nice art and fun take on the theme!
Thanks!
the graphics are nice sounds are great but you couldve added a few mor mechanics or enemy types for variety and also maybe made a few mor thing related with the countdown so it fits the themem beter cause now the only thing that fits the theme is the sunrise countdown but the game itself is good
Thanks for playing. There were plans for some additional mechanics (pickups, more varied landscape, etc.) and additional enemies (elite vampire hunters, Van Helsing himself as a boss, etc.) that were cut to keep the scope small. There's no requirement in the jam that the game has more than one mechanic to fit the theme (indeed, the rules say that it's entirely optional), but not only is there a countdown in the imminent sunrise, but the pun in the game's title and concept.
Our team also thought about making a wordplay on Count but ended up going for another idea. I now see many people had that idea XD
Killing enemies with the gun facing away is pretty hard but it's not too hard once you focus on finding the Count.
Don't hesitate to play our game too if you have the time ^^
Thanks for playing -- I've seen quite a few games with a Dracula theme, so I'm not the only one to make that connection (the Count from Sesame Street even showed up in the theme reveal trailer!)
I did think about doing mouse aim, but in the end decided that would make things too easy!
Short but sweet. I was wondering if anyone was going to go with some variation of "Count" being a vampire!
Once I thought of the pun, I just knew I had to build a game around it. Judging from some of the other entries, I'm not the only one!
Really fun and the music makes you feel like you're hero which really fits the game. The style reminds me of Atari and others around the time which also makes it really hard to fight. It's easier to run into the enemy and kill them while you're inside each other rather than at a distance since you can only attack on 8 lanes while the enemy can freely move
Thanks for playing!
I really like the music too -- as you can see from the asset list, I found it on jamendo.com.
I love retro games, and I tend to go for that style of game when I do game jams.
I wanted to have better logic for the enemies, but ran out of time to implement it.
Very good game, I thought the music went well with the intro cutscene. I liked that it was just on the keyboard as well because I only have the mousepad. Good job!
Thanks!
OMG this is definitely one of the better games I have seen. The narrative is so enticing and for a solid 10 minutes I was hooked, and I have a really short attention span! Because I was always facing away from the enemies it was really hard, but fun to attack them! The music was a banger! Can you try out my game? Thanks for playing, and glad you enjoyed it!
The enemies could have been worse -- I made a mistake in their rate-of-fire in an early build and accidentally turned it into a bullet-hell! (Hmm, maybe I should add that as an optional.)
I found the music on jamendo.com.
