End life plan
Core Collapse will remain freely available and actively maintained post-jam.
The source code is open-sourc for anyone to modify, or self-host. The game itself asks for nothing — no login, no account, no server calls, no telemetry — so it costs nothing to keep online.
After the jam ends, I will:
Keep the itch.io page live with free downloads (web build and desktop installers)
Update the game for any critical bugs, but otherwise let it be a finished product
If I ever stop updating it, the game doesn't break. No dependencies to rot, no servers to shut down, no accounts to migrate. Anyone can download the source, host it themselves, or submit pull requests. The game is designed to survive the loss of the developer, the platform, or both.
