I feel bad for Count :(
Btw It's a funny idea! Having Count downed XD I love your pixel art and the game ideas. All of that is amazing!

its really great! but i think u should give more new mechanics so ppl not gonna bored if play for long time
Very cool game! One small thing that could be improved: I think the game needs a bit more stakes (if you excuse the pun). Adding a timer to each level would spice things up a little (you would have to memorise the room layouts on your first runs so you could optimise your later runs, kind of like a roguelike).
Anyways, I always appreciate the more creative interpretations of game jam themes, and this is the first vampire-themed game I’ve played so far, so bonus points for that!
Totally hear you and thank you for the feedback! I really wanted to add more stakes (heh) to the game and had a whole plan to add in some leftover vampire hunters in the castle that the dog had to either evade or attack to save the Count. Time just did not allow unfortunately! But definitely on my to-do list if I do anymore updates. Thanks for playing!!
What a good doggo!! Your pixel art is beautiful and I enjoyed the sound design! I would've appreciated a little bit more of a tutorial at the start, but my game suffers the same issue, so I get it hahahaha.
Very decent overall. And it feels polished and complete so there's not much to critique here.
The gameplay is simple but nice, the sound design is great. The art style is lovely as well, though Count Dracula feels more like a tired ghost than a vampire, so maybe he could get an art improvement.
Could add more levels or even a level where the dog fends off the attackers.
But regardless of all that, it is still a very nice to play game.
Hey thanks so much for the review! I completely agree that Dracula doesn’t look enough like Dracula. Normally for a game jam, I’d do all the art myself but I normally have a team to do more of the heavy lifting of programming. With just me this year, I had to settle on pre-made assets and it was pretty impossible to find a 16x16 pixel dracula that fit the aesthetic of the rest of the game haha. If I go back and work more on this, I would 100% redo Dracula!
Also really wanted to add some hunters to either evade or fend off but time just didn’t allow :( another improvement for sure!
Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback!!
Fun little game with a very cute narrative! Very short, but I guess that might actually be a plus for a game jam. I thought the sprites were a little hard to read and there was some weird graphics glitching when the camera moved for some reason. Well done overall!
Fun game actually, also is the mop a minecraft item sprite lol? seems like it. Could you also rate my game.
I like how some of you immediately thought about the wordplay on countdown - Count Down. You even added that he is DOWNed :D
A cute little game that seems decently polished.
I liked the little quips from the man himself - a nice little bit of humor mixed with advice, not too over the top on either.
:)
I did encounter a weird bug in level 2 where there was a stake in the middle of the level.
Drac wouldn't let me pick him up until I crossed the room and removed the stake from the floor.
I'd already removed the one from his body, so I knew what to look for; but without that I probably would've gotten stuck.
Thanks for the feedback!! The stake in the middle was meant to be there but in hindsight it does seem silly to have left it there. Dracula’s comments don’t make much sense in relation to a wooden stake being left on the floor. I think I had created lore in my head that the stake had some magical properties similar to garlic that makes vampires hate them or something haha. Sorry it was confusing though! Thanks so much for playing!!
The premise is interesting. I brought the garlic to the count thinking it was a radish.
Pun interpretations is a crucial part of the jam. There not so much of them this time, but this game satisfied me. Pretty fun
Took me a while to realize that the encorporation of the theme was that "Count is Down". My only complaint was that it was too short. I want more
Haha I thought a punny take on the theme would be fun this go-around! I pitched the idea to some friends and they laughed so I went "why not"! I also wanted to do way more levels with different hazards and puzzles but just didn't have enough time :( maybe I'll come back to it and expand upon it at some point! Thanks for playing!!
