Nice work. The hide in the shadow mechanic is interesting. Would love to see more levels with different challenges

This is great for a first solo game! Nice work, keep it up!

Congratulations on finishing your first game!

If you want to continue working on it, maybe make it remove a potion so that you can’t keep doing exactly the same route each time!

Good luck on the rest of your gamedev journey!

Nice game and congrats for your first one ! The Count is really cute :)

Developer

Thank you so much :D

pretty cool implementation of shadows and detection, reminds me a bit of how it works in splinter cell. Gameplay itself is pretty simple but can be quite tense so you gotta get locked in. GG overall :D

Developer

Thanks! :D

fun game! was it techinically challenging to perform the check of seeing the player not behind a shadow?

Also, does it count that I got 8 potions if I died getting the 9th??

Developer

For me it was challenging haha.. I'm not a super-experienced coder but managed to get it working by using raycasts. The shadows themselves are not actually the ones protecting the player, it's colliders in the obstacles themselves.

Well done getting 8 potions, that's well above my own highscore. I'd say it "COUNTS" :D

Thank you for playing!

Cool concept!

Thanks!

good job on your game! It could be interesting to remove spots where potions have been picked up so you have to go to different sections. I found I would creep up the right since he always started looking from the left

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah I had a bunch of ideas on how to improve it. That's a nice suggestion, thanks!

Great work on your first game! I enjoyed how the countdown varied to keep you on your toes. In my best run of 4 potions I had several very close calls which was exciting. If you kept working on the game, I agree with LostLlama that moving the statues would be a great way to add more variety. Hope to see you back for the next jam!

Developer

Thanks for the comment!

I'd like to keep working on the game, just to learn more. I have actually implemented a very simple mechanic now that moves the obstacles.

Likewise!

Neat concept! Maybe the objects could move around or the scan could randomly go left->right or right->left for variety between runbacks

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah I thought the implementation of the scan was a bit hard, I should try to implement this feature to learn even more :D
