Super cute! I love hard boiled detective fiction, so this was right up my alley. Detective Pants was able to crack the case... with only a couple mistakes along the way.
Wow! Really solid entry! Great writing, great mechanics, fun mystery!
Loved the old school detective style with the humor sprinkled in.
thanks! it was fun to write some of the dialogue
Love the concept and agree that the brute forcing is bit of a shame. Some consequence to getting it wrong would be cool, e.g. a minute cut from the timer or something else. Also, 20 minutes was a bit long, so never really felt like I had think fast, i.e. brute forcing would be a vaible strategy. A bit nit-picky now, but when the music loops, there is a clear silence between the loops, which kinda took me out of the vibe. Also, mapping the action keys to ‘c’ and ‘z’ seems like such odd choices when you have ‘q’ and ‘e’ right there! I think the story telling was really good, the music fitted the theme really well and the art style was cute!
Really enjoyed the dialog and the funny writing! I did kind of brute force the first chapter by moving events around until all lit green.
Thanks! We figured we'd rather allow brute forcing than have people get stuck :)
