How does your game fit the theme?
There is a count down for the time you have left on earth. You must do what you can with the time you have left to help your family and friends. If you do not finish your business in time (and the ticks on the portal finish counting down) the game will end.

Playing this one post jam - really cute game! The story is really sweet, and the gameplay is short and simple, but that really works here. Good job!
HAHAH Stupid cat! I love this game it was really cute! a little more sense of what i have to do would have helped! But otherwise really engaging!!
Feel free to check out mine!
We love the game’s story and how you guys pop up grave’s indicator when it is out of the screen. The game could really expand to understand more about the background story of “the ghost”, their relationship,…
We thought that it could be better if the game showed ways to reach objectives at first, but the map wasn’t that big, and it might ruin the whole gameplay. Great job with the design direction!
That's a very touching idea. Simple but very efficient. I couldn't find the cat though, don't know where it's been hiding. I wish maybe there was more to learn about the deceased person as we just bring items back to his loved one but we don't really have the opportunity to get to know them better. But it's quite an amazing work considering the time we had! Congrats!
I like the style. I didnt really understand the part about planting a flower for the wife.
I think it would help if there were arrows to point towards objectives.
Hey, thanks for playing! Your game is awesome BTW!
My wife got stuck on the exact same objective lol, unfortunately that was the last one I made so she didn't get a chance to playtest it until after the jam deadline :P.
hint Your wife is the old lady on the bench, and you need to plant it near her so she can enjoy it
I think that could have made things clearer for the player and wouldn't have been too hard to implement off of a similar mechanic I setup for the portal tracking off screen. There would need to be some sort of priority system for proximity to or current quest you're on to keep only a few arrows or pointers on screen and not overwhelm the player.
I would personally want to keep things subtler but that comes down to better level layout and world building on my part. I definitely got a bit slapdash at the end as the deadline started looming.
I ran into a pretty jarring issue where the audio was incredibly chopping the whole time, but despite that I had a nice time with this. The narrative idea is cute, the vibes are on point and I like the blending of 3d and 2d, alongside things like the trees swaying in the wind despite just being spheres, which I thought was pretty striking and memorable.
Hey! Sorry you ran into this issue, I had the same problem when I first uploaded the game, and it's due to performance, I have since added a lot of performance fixes and it seems to run pretty good on most machines. Just make sure you have graphics acceleration enabled on your browser, I was able to re-create the issue still when I turned mine off.
I unfortunately was not able to find any other settings to help with this issue, next time I will make sure to have an option to download the game to play out of browser as well!
I like the idea, its a very cute game and has a interesting ascetic. I enjoy the environmental storytelling bits, but I wish their was some more in game explanation of what was going on.
Thank you so much for playing the game and taking the time to comment!! We wish there was more of an explanation too haha.
With the way we crunched at the end to get something submittable, we decided to just make it function as a game loop and go back to fix the story telling later...which did not really pan out :P.
Original Concept
You are a shapeless ghost who doesn't remember who you are, at the start you just see "Name - Gardener" on your grave as your only information. As you interact with people you remember more things about what kind of person you were. There are some basic gardening tasks you can do, but they don't progress anything. There are some other "key" tasks that teach you NEW information about yourself.
We simplified it to 4 key people for the jam Grandson - Daughter - Friend - Wife (no particular order). If we had time we would have wanted you to progress and become less shapeless as you learned about yourself, as well as more things populating the world (for example you play with the Grandson and an entire park area with interactables is realized). At the end of the game if you had time to fully explore the world you would unlock a new cutscene of your fully realized self surrounded by loved ones, gladly going to the afterlife knowing you lived a full life.
Instead we just had time to have a simple concept of revealing parts of your grave at the end showing more of who you were with some text labels.
I'm glad so many people are finding it cute as that was a goal!
This is a pretty interesting game for me. I love the concept, though arguably the theme is a bit of a tangent from the game.
The music is lovely, so are the arts.
The sound effects when hovering an object is a bit jarring for me, but that is just my personal opinion.
Storytelling wise, the game both said a lot and nothing much at the same time. I would love for there to be more meaning into each object in the world. You can tell a lot of story with just the world building alone.
But, hey, it is your first game jam and it is a great start :DD!
I still remember how horrible my first game went, so I think this one is a decent start :DD!
Thank you so much for trying out the game and taking the time to write to us!
Yeah we really overestimated how much we could get done from a visual story telling standpoint, even things like the on hover text on the objects were a late addition because playtesters couldn't tell what was going on. I think it's easy when building your first game for everything to make sense in your head, but hard to truly convey it with limited time/assets.
If I could start again we would have the characters actually talk, or add more interactions so you can really learn about the story without relying on visuals/scripting. We probably only got a chance to tell maybe 10% of the story we originally planned, and as you pointed out the objects were meant to be more complex and meaningful...but with the time crunch we had to work with a lot of pre-existing assets from other projects for the 3D.
We're really proud that we got something completed! This community has been overwhelmingly kind and helpful, thank you for the detailed reply :D.
I'm spotting so much potential for a game jam game,, lol cool concept!
I like the ghost and the concept, very creative.
I love a ghosty game! this reminds me a bit of my game in some ways. Well done!
This is what I want to be when im a ghost, boo! Cool game well done :)
Fun game! First thing to play with my grandson as a ghost haha great!!
