The game is really beautiful and has a lot of charm to it ! :) But the attack and parry timings are a bit frustrating (the anticipation phase is sooooo long). Still, congrats on doing such a polished experience in so little time ! :)
he never take a second puff from cigarettes, what a guy
This game has alot of cool concepts, especially parrying to gain more time. On the other hand there are alot of bits that end up hurting the game, like the slow windup of the attack, camera being too heigh to see the ground when jumping at points, and lower air mobility. All the issues can be fixed, and it's all things that you get better at spotting and fixing the more you make games. Overall good job!
Overall pretty okay game, but I feel like it would've been better if the character didn't take 5 business days to attack lol. And the level is also pretty badly designed. No offence, but I think the levels should be a bit more forgiving at the start. I mean you're the dev, we aren't. Kinda smthn I struggle with too.
I'm also primarily a programmer, and I understand the use of ready-made art and assets (heck, I *recommend* it to my students). It's just that seeing so many comments down here praising the art and presentation above all else feels a bit... weird? Am I the only one who actually reads descriptions? As for the game itself as others have said, the main issue comes from unresponsiveness and (imho) too little bonus time given. The window is too tight to allow for even a single mistake. I'm all for speedrunner games, but it is a niche. Plus, having to rewatch that initial animation each time gets tiring very fast.
I like the concept but I feel like the biggest issue I see with the gameplay is the unresponsiveness of the character. Freezing to attack felt a little disruptive, especially when the freeze lasted longer than the animations. Would benefit from tighter coordination between animation and gameplay.
Very good idea , the art and audio art a perfect match , the little things that would need improvements would be making the time and the remaining ennemies a little bit more visible since they are blending with the background , it would also be good if you could make the player be a little bit faster other than that this game has a lot of potential
Good Work in making it well done !!!!
Fantastic art and pixel animation. Character design as well is A+. With some tighter gameplay, this could be really special. Since it seems like a fast-paced time attack game, fast and responsive controls are a must. Good stuff!
First of all, the art for this is absolutely STUNNING. Especially the backgrounds, the atmosphere it creates really adds to the immersion of the game. For the gameplay, I struggled with attacks as the atk speed was quite slow, but the movement felt alright. Other than that though, pretty solid work!
the slowness in which I move and perform attacks makes it feel nonresponsive
Stunning art and audio, you've nailed presentation! I struggled a lot, but can appreciate balancing can be pretty tricky in a jam. This is a fantastic entry and you should be very proud!
Really gorgeous game, both visuals and audio-wise. Found it really difficult, but maybe that's just me!
Damn, incredible pixel art, especially the backgrounds! Good job!
Looks very cool! For me it was too difficult X) But I enjoyed old-school vibe. Probably, I'd suggest to have a way to skip start animation for re-tries (it's cool, but I die too fast and need to wait it). And probably it'd be cool to have easy difficulty level for noobs like me xD Overall, good job!
Thank you for playing it! Yeah, I ramped up the difficulty too much, first thing to do after the jam is over is to add level select and difficulty. You're so right about the animation, I just found it too cool to remove it :)
