I enjoy the game Set so this is a nice variant. I like how the game extends your time as you get better. The cubes are artistically appealing.
If there is a game like this called 'Set' could you link me? Having trouble finding it, want to learn from it how to improve if they work similarly. Really appreciate the time played and the time taken to review/comment.
Set is a card game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_(card_game)
I like your game because you can do something similar while playing solitary (with a leaderboard).
Amazing, I didn't know about this game. Researching now, you're a real blessing! Thank you 🙏
This is very solid. Spent longer staring at the shapes just now than I might be willing to admit, lol.
Although the error sounds for when you try something that doesn't work is somewhat harsh and jarring, compared to the rest of the audio. I also almost never felt compelled to use the reshuffle, because 10 seconds seems quite steep for something that might not help me much, based on how it goes. (And by the time I'm tempted to use it because I've run out of options, I probably have less than 20 seconds left anyways, so using it would probably just make me lose)
Cool idea with a cool art style. he game has that juicy everyone loves. My suggestions would be only a highlight on the selected pieces and the option to click one by one.
This seems cool, I like the style of the game I like the colors and patterns but it almost feels engineered to disorient you. The colors don't have very strong contrast with each other, and the more intricate patterns sort of blend together; combined with the whole board rocking back and forth it made me pretty nauseous after like 100k points so I didn't get much further. Also the error sound when you fail a selection is pretty abrasive compared to the rest of the game. The game didn't feel relaxing to me despite how it's presented, but I like the scoring system! It would be fun to try and make a 3x3 match over the course of a game if it didn't make me nauseous to play
Thanks for the feedback. There is accessibility options in the menu to turn off the rocking, for users who struggle with motion on screen. That element will actually be pushed back to harder difficulties in a future update anyway as it makes things much harder. I think balancing is the key here. Trying to make it challenging by adding similar patterns etc... if every tile was very different, the matching would be a breeze. With more time, which I intend to take, this balance of skill vs design will be better. Appreciate your time, its so important to hear this to help improve.
Love the art style and idea, would love to see it expanded.
I think a more guided first level would have helped show the idea more, going into the game after looking at the tutorial slides did not feel enough. I found the board overwhelming and did not have the rules top of mind or memorized yet.
waoww
i really like this game
idek wat to say beyond it makes my brain feel good lol
Aww. That's so kind! I really enjoyed making it, but these comments have made it so much better!
I've never released a game before, so its really encouraging to hear this sort of feedback. My dream is to be a game developer full-time.
Consider this version a demo, I'll definitely be continuing to work on this with everyone's comments helping to improve it!
Thanks for the time playing and this heartwarming comment!
The cube designs are well made and the game itself is fun to play. Sometimes there isn't anything to match and have to end up reshuffling but I guess that's the intent and part of the game itself. Simply a fine game!
It's a really simple and well made game. There isn't much to criticise apart from the fact that sometimes I wasn't getting many patterns and, oddly specifically, I think a different text font would improve the atmosphere of the game. But I think you nailed the simplicity and it gave me a sense of comfort playing the game so good job :)
My high score was 37,279
Reminds me of playing bejewelled long ago with a really satisfying cube design!
That's high praise! Thank you so much for taking the time to play and comment! Really encouraging!
Match-three with multiple "dimensions" is a nice idea. I also like the visuals. It was difficult to see at a glance what the shapes and numbers of a cube are, but it might work better with fewer distinct shapes/numbers (or just visuals that are easier to identify, but that's a lot of information to pack in a very small space).
Thanks so much for giving it a go. Glad you liked the idea of it. I definitely need to spend some time reappraising the symbol designs and getting feedback to see what works best. I'm in a juggling act between making the symbols more readable, close enough to each other to be mistaken to confuse the eye a little and just ensuring they look cool. Good feedback!
Cool game! I especially love the sound effects and how you described your process and experience in the game's description. This is a really creative entry! Made me want to jump into a game of either Mahjong or Rummikub right after. If I had to pick out something, next time add a bit of polish to your UI to make the experience even cleaner!
Thanks so much! Means a huge amount to hear this. UI is really sloppy, it is a victim of my indecisiveness on how I wanted it to look... Still not 100% sure now really. Sound effects were down to a knife edge, so I'm glad that quick decision paid off. Maybe I need to think less! Might improve things!
Great game! Feels good to play. I agree with Acrid in that I found myself predisposed to matching by colour predominantly, but it became easier once I sort of unfocused my eyes and took in the whole picture at once. I'm curious if the game guarantees that there's always a possible match? I also appreciate that you provided motion accessibility options :)
Game is designed to rejig the whole board if there are no moves left. I've not tested for all rules yet. Will need to simulate a few thousand games and test things more. Testing was done, but not as robustly as I'd like due to time constraints. Doesn't start unless there are legal moves on load too. I toyed with the idea of having the number of matches displayed to encourage people (but was told it was slightly frustrating for a playtester, as it made them feel bad). I've got a few comments now about the motion accessibility, I failed to add colour blind mode (coming) but glad I prioritised the motion yaw toggle. Thank you so much for playing and taking the time to feed back, it all helps!
Looks really good. The cubes, symbols and colors look neat. I also found myself matching color most often but matching all 4 rules at once is special!
Thank you so much for playing! I've played this so much during development that I'm seeing matches like I'm reading the code in the matrix. Definitely takes time
Oooh nice game! Really love this and want it on my phone :D I think you'd enjoy mine based on this game
Thanks for the comment. So glad you liked it. I've definitely got mobile in mind for this! I'll check yours out in a tick.
The core gameplay mechanic is actually pretty fun, reminiscient of Mahjong. I found myself matching just colour more of the time because finding number and suit matches takes a lot more mental energy and therefore time. I also kind of wish that you could make diagonals and runs like 1-2-3 for extra points or something. Visuals are the second strongest aspect and look quite good, audio is okay, my biggest critique is that the only connection to the theme is a time limit counting down.
Thank you so much. Totally agree. All improvements noted. Diagonals were a bit tricky to work out how to make selections function correctly. So I stuck to the simple up/down left/right to meet the deadline. 1-2-3 runs are in, but locked to the symbol type, but I found myself wanting those across symbol runs too, so that will definitely be added.
Audio is a few old Sonic Pi scripts I wrote a few years ago.. not very good.
And the commend about the time limit aspect. Yeah, I think you are right, count down taken very literally! :p
Thank you so much for commenting!!
