How does your game fit the theme?
We decided to go for a play on words: Count as in a vampire noble and down, as in feeling sad. On top of that our game also has an actual countdown system that plays during the question portion of the gameplay.

Reminded me a lot of Coffee Talk. Great art style, unique characters, a lot to like here!

Incredible style, and quite funny writing, though with the gameplay I feel like it gets a little samey pretty quickly, the bar scenes do nicely to vary it up, but for the most part you can get by entirely by clicking the longest response since that was almost always the correct one. That said, it's more about the experience of reading it, laughing, and seeing all the great art, and I really enjoyed it for that. Good stuff!

This game kept me hooked with its charming art style, memorable characters, and enjoyable story, and the in game ads were a hilarious touch that added even more personality!!

i admire your art a lot! very good job!!

I don't really dig games with mechanics like those, so it's not fair for me to criticise that. However - the artwork is stunning and the whole game is just oozing style, from colors, to pointy/skewed speech bubbles and fantastic character designs. Great stuff.

What felt a bit odd to me is the countdown during phone calls - I know it's part of the theme but I just don't see any actual point of it being there. Like, you could remove it altogether and I don't think the game would lose anything substantial.

Stellar writing as well :)

Thank you for playing and for your honest feedbacks! ^-^

About the countdown, I think you have a point, at least to some extent, but I'd like to explain a bit more about why we chose to add it. There were mainly two reasons behind that.

Narratively, we wanted to create the feeling of a hotline where lots of calls are coming in and you have to pick them up quickly, keeping the line open whenever possible.

Mechanically, I wanted to create some pressure and encourage players to make quicker decisions. There are several games that combine QTE with dialogue choices specifically to prevent players from carefully analyzing every option. In the first iteration, the timer was much shorter, but I didn't take into account that questions had various length and that players have different reading speeds. That's why I decided to increase the timer to accomadate everyone.

I agree that the game would still be fully playable without the countdown, but it would change the experience, at least to some extent. Anyway, I found your perspective interesting! And sorry for the long answer lol. I hope you still find our game enjoyable! ^^

Thank you so much for taking time to write this explanation. It makes sense, everything is a tradeoff of sorts. In the end I think the single most important thing is a strong vision and idea of how this game works and what do you want to "say" with it. And you definitely have this vision, decisions were made with purpose and I'll always respect that.

If you decided to remove it, there would probably be people complaining that it doesn't make sense for a hotline and it leaves them with analysis paralysis :D

Well, regarding that call timer... It's basically a Hotline) You can't keep the caller waiting, nor show that you're hesitating, so it earns it's place) Imho

Wow, just wow)
Amazing art, perfect music, cute and funny stories, damn it's a masterpiece <3
Btw, If there is a way to get an ending with every character, how it's decided with which one?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'd like to shed some light on this mechanic, which is intentionally kept hidden during the game. Every character has both a bad ending and a romance ending. Getting the bad ending is fairly simple, you just need to give that character an answer that make him feel more depressed for three times during the hotline phase.

Reach the romance ending is a bit more tricky. After giving the correct answers over the phone, the character will eventually show up at the bar and ask you a question. If you answer all three of those events correctly, you'll unlock the chance to go on a date with him/her!

There's a bit of rng involved in when characters appear, but every ending can be achieved with some patience. I hope that clears things up. And thanks for playing our game! ;)

Aha, Okay, so... If I'm to reject their offer, does that mean a bad ending or rather a way to "switch" character? :D
I mean, if you do everything else correctly) Or is it just random, which one is there first to finish with all 3 questions?)

Developer(+1)

If you reject them, you simply become close friends, and you're free to pursue a romance with another character. If you end up rejecting everyone... nothing happens. ^-^" I considered adding another alternate ending for that scenario, but it would've been so hard to unlock that it didn't seem worth the effort lol.

I'm so impressed with this game. I mean, It's more than a game jam game. Make this into a bigger project. I LOVE it! Great job !!

very accomplished visual, admire all the work  making the game  so stylish

Beautiful art style! I liked the idea of helping other vampires cheer up :D Oh and funny ads btw!

A small feedback, I did not find a retry option after a bad ending :( not sure if that was intentionally, I had to restart the page to replay again.

Developer(+1)

The endings were one of the last things we implemented, and we were running out of time. I'll add a replay button in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

I LOVE the style of this game! The artwork, the character design, UI, music, everything just clicks! I was so into it that I completly forgot this was from a gameJam, and I would love to see this concept being further developed.

Probably one of the best games I played so far. I gave you the best score I could and a follow. Can't wait for your next projects!

Very polished and cool! The character designs are super creative. I think having some poppier or more fun presentation on the text itself would have enhanced it even more!
