This was very good.
It took me a few tries, but I did save the universe (or something) in the end.
:)
I was a bit confused when "Enter the anomaly" was just "restart" - it sounded like an extra/bonus level or something.
Also, I would suggest having mouse aim off be the default.
It sounds good, but it was actually more annoying than helpful as a feature.
Pretty addicitve tbh, really hard tho (I like hard, so all g)
Good stuff!
My first Asteroids/bullet hell game and you've executed it perfectly! The visuals were juicy, the mechanics smooth; difficult but not punishing. Overall, great job and a nice entry for the jam!
Really fun game, how do you possibly keep your whole fleet alive haha!
was not easy to beat but really fun
I struggled at first but the more I played it, I really started enjoying it. I actually learned how certain mechanics worked on almost each run, which revealed a surprising amount of depth.
This was my best run with all 4 ships safe! One of my ships got hit literally right as the finish line appeared in sight, so I panicked and boosted straight toward it, luckily it did not drop out :)
Had a blast!
Post here if you get the happy ending with all of your fleet intact and your time.
Screenshot and your game is my next playthrough with review.
Thanks for playing
* Aesthetic is really cool, although it was difficult to appreciate at times due to how small the entities are and how fast they move.
* I like the idea of the countdown being a shared resource of hp and thrust and a timer.
* I think the onboarding could use some work - It is difficult to figure out what is going on when all the mechanics are introduced at the start. I think it would be easier to learn the game if you only introduced one mechanic at a time (maybe one per level?)
* Some of the sound effects felt a bit rough with some of the repeated sounds being quite harsh on the ears and some sound effects cutting out earlier than they should.
Overall pretty good game, I can tell a lot of thought went into how the mechanics interact.
Thanks Digsdev for the feedback and for playing on your twitch.
Yeah, some valid points. Tried to make it jam and stream quick play friendly as opposed to how I would have done it for a typical release.
Also the default audio and FOV should have been different since most players won't want to or should need to tweak them.
Thanks again. Adding your game for a later playthrough
Very creative game idea and really cool artstyle. I found it very difficult myself but whenever I lose it is easy to see why and what I should do to overcome it, just a skill issue lol.
That is genuinely a really nice shoot em up. I enjoyed that quite a bit.
I love the art style and visuals. The gameplay is really fun as well, a bit difficult or a bit too easy I'd say, because I can just finish the thing without fighting, I would've liked to have the ability to fight everything and still finish, but this is fine as well.
Sound track is really nice and it feels like there is some directional audio? which is nice.
My only criticism would be that when boosting the firing isn't really done right, the bullets feel static and just travel alongside the ships, or sometimes even slower.
Otherwise though I had fun playing it!
Thanks for playing and the feedback. Good point about boost. I should have tweaked it to adjust the projectile speed to the boost speed. Yes some 3D audio spatialization is included. The game is probably more about beating the clock countdown and surviving (and getting the Happy Ending) then shooting so that might clash with the expectation.
Pretty nice game overall, the artstyle is cool, you can clearly see everything, however, ( maybe it's a skill issue ) I think that the hitbox of the crystal is a little small, sometimes it looked like I got it while I actually didn't, but, other than that, the game is great, quick, and nice experience. Well done.
Thanks very much for playing and your feedback, yeah the crystal is a hard get and not ideal. The ship is narrow so I found myself turning sideways to get it because I was having a hard time too. One of those tuning issues that's hard to get right in a jam.
The game looked really pretty! I loved the visuals and overall clean UI design! One thing I would honestly recommend was to put a tutorial, because for a while I did not understand how to get more time and why I was dying right after I got to the boss.
